Statistiche:
Do the successor chapters know about the fallen?
As per title.

If so do all of them know? Some of them?

Everything I've read says otherwise.

The rank and file do not know. As they rise in the ranks they are given bits of info, usually in the form of allegory, to prepare them and to evaluate how they might react to the whole story. Only when you are promoted into the Deathwing most of the story is revealed (most, not all. that is for the members of the Inner Circle). Even in the Ravenwing, that is responsible for the task of locating the Fallen, only the Knights know about them.

There is no such thing as "rank and file" within the Adeptus Astartes. The elite of the elite etc.

But it is a moot point anyway. The question was whether or not the successor chapters know or not, and they do. Even if only the higher-ups of each Chapter was in the know-how, it would still qualify as "the chapters knowing" IMO.

Them "not knowing" would be the entire thing being lost when the Dark Angels split into Chapters.
The Angels of Redemption know for sure (at least the leadership). read up on the events about the slaughter at Gatling Hive when all of them left just before an Ork Waaagh... my favorite chapter, i was very happy to get the skin during the event :-)

According to the lore I've read (Mainly the DA 7th edition Codex), the First Company of every (named) successor is part of the Inner Circle, which know of The Fallen.

It's also suggested that the Dark Angels petitioned the Administratum for the creation of additional successor chapters (In addition to those already granted), specifically to get more Space Marines out there hunting for The Fallen, a fact that they obviously didn't share with the Administratum.

The close co-operation between the Dark Angels and their successors really skirt the edict against legion building, which the whole Chapters system was meant to prevent.
The Inner Circle‘s member are the complete Deathwing, all Scriptors and Chaplains, every high ranking officer, like Company Masters and their Leutnants, even some Veteran Sergeants. The Ravenwing (except the officers and the Knights) know that they are hunting for Dark Angels that have done something unforgiving, but they do not know, what exactly happened during the heresy.
It is not like you get promoted and than you‘re getting told this or that. The Inner Circle decides individually, what someone is allowed to know. Over the years you gain more and more knowledge and only the Chapter Master of the original Dark Angels knows it all (this is what the Dark Angels hope for, but do not forget the Fallen themselves, Cypher and the Emperor).
Ah yes, and the successor chapters have the same organisation and an Inner Circle. But from all Chapter Masters only Azrael knows from the Lion burried in the rock and still to be found.
