The heavy flamer
I noticed the last time I play it left a trail of flame on the ground, and if my memory is correct, that was removed in the old version because it was causing issues for people (supposedly, my game was lagging enough back then). So does it do damage or is the trail just my imagination/useless?

It stops xenos in their tracks and damages them too (They're on fire !). Making the HF an invaluble tool for defence. Just spray that lovely prometheum all over the floor. Nothings getting near.....

This is an issue outlined in the community bugtracker located here https://forums.focus-home.com/topic/6770/community-bug-reports-collected-list-of-issues-recommendations/2 One if the reasons that the trails were removed was that it was causing a lot of entity lag. The discord community voted that each player should have a total of 8 trails minimum or 16 maximum to give the flamer its teeth back. If all else make the flamer have a longer reach and pass through enemies so it can clear corridors.

It doesn't go through enemies? Wait...why?

The flamer counts on its pools of fire to dish out corridor DOT damage as when the fire poof hits enemies it leaves a pool of fire on the ground. igniting anyone who walks over it. In MP the pools are removed thus removing this effect. The flamethrower actually has infinite reach and a VERY DETAILED particle system that allows you to arc the flamethrower long range but its hard to do in multiplayer cause the pools are removed

So, only the flame gouts damage multiple enemies and my main jet damages just one?

The main jet hit one enemy and has a stun/pushback effect. When the fire hits something it drops a pool of fire in the ground OR it will make a pool of fire wherever the main jet damage spot hits (such as walls or long range arcs) You can see this effect by going into a singleplayer match and arcing the flame long range and then going to Multiplayer and Arcing the flame and theres a big difference since I have half days here at the PD ill be able to make a video on it

But lets be honest - unless you're a really skilled and considerate Heavy Flamer weilder, the HF is really the weapon of trolling your teammates by making everyone fracking blind in MP.

I find the Plasma Cannon to be way worse with it's flashing.

At least the Heavy Flamer is a consistent jet of light.
