Friendly Fire & Plasma Cannon, is it worth using now?
TL;DR
Whats your opinon, is the Plasma Cannon now worth using with Friendly Fire enabled?

Previously the Plasma Cannon didn't really do that great in co-op games with Friendly Fire turned on.
Typically it resulted in three frustrated team members getting scorched by being within the explosive plasma blast radius. Along with an equally frustrating plasma cannon wielder, for he constantly needs to maintain a high level of trigger discipline, to avoid possible team damage.

Now with the mod's available in the SH:D - EE the Plasma Cannon can be tweaked to have a reduced blast radius and a much faster projectile speed, accuracy/recoil and so on. Along with the option for team members to improve armor resistance towards plasma damage, even though I doubt many will find it worth investing in to.

The stun/knock-back effect oon the other hand is really strong and could keep a broodlord at bay with ease, preventing it from closing to melee range. Leaving only it's psychic powers that can do harm.

This makes me wonder if its now worth using in friendly fire enabled games...

It's always been worth using with FF on. You just can't yolo fire into your team. I generally either lead the way or watch the rear, so I am more often worried about blasting myself, rather than my teammates.

The stun and sheer damage output of the Plasma Cannon make it a super strong weapon, even with FF on. You just can't aim at your feet and faceroll through levels with it when FF is on.

I tried it with the reduced AOE and faster shot upgrade. I like it, but I think it would work even better with that Faster Reload perk... but still not good enough that I can go without the +30%HP.

With that upgrrade it feels more like a SoC, but with much better stagger qualities.

The reload perk effect the "re-charge" rate of the plasma cannon? Oh I've to test this...

The reduced AOE but faster projectile shot upgrade is work great with FF on, but I kinda don't like the Increased AOE one since I feel its OP in FF off and pretty much useless in FF on.

Depends on what you're using it for, if you're having problems with big bois, then the Plasma Cannon is worth it, if you're using it for AoE on hordes of Genestealers, better just to take a Hellfire with an Apoth
