Tactical Marine - any advantage over chaplain
I havent personally been able to spend any points into either of the classes yet. Looking for an alternate class to play out of those two and I just can't fathom what the advantage of playing the tactical marine is?

A) It does not seem the revive for tactial marine has any advantages - pretty sure the cooldown is the same or maybe even longer than chaplain?

B) Tactical can provide a shield to one ally where as the chap can make everyone immune to damage

C) The servo skull - not sure how much damage it does if any, not sure how long it actually stays out, and the initial coolldown to even get it out is so long that you might have had a party wipe before thats even possible. I notice it can have rockets as one of the perks, is that good? I've generally been rocking the 30% more HP in all body locations unless the perk is necessary. Opinions on this servo skull? The chaplains reflect ability definitly has its uses (taking down broodlords and whatnot)

Looking for any input! Thanks!

Tactical: revive 1 fallen ally = 120 sec cooldown
Chaplain: revive ALL fallen allies = 110 sec cooldown

Tactical: reduce damage on 1 ally you can see for a short time
Chaplain: all allies AND you take ZERO damage for a short time

Tactical: Skull drone, HUGE cooldown, can be modified to also fire rockets, dies very easily
Chaplain: enemies take a percentage of the damage back that they deal to you and your team

Weapons are the same, it's really down to the last ability and if you think it's worth it. Other than that the Chaplain is just straight up a much better class IMO.

I can't compare but I like playing him. I will try to get an upgrade for the Skull to shoot a rocket every 2 seconds, and also lower the cooldown for it if it's any good with rockets.

PS. I wish I had more time to play right now.. =/

I really love the Chaplain, just simply becouse i can actually use the heavy flamer with him while i scream to the top of my lungs "ONLY IN DEATH DOES DUTY END" and "WE ARE THE EMPERORS CHOSEN"

the only advantage the tactical has is a faster powerfist. works well with the flamer. that does not outweight the disadvantages.

If there were a place where I could see the description of the abilities, I wouldnt have wasted my time with Tactical. Safe to say the main reason I play Tactical is for the shield and revive, but if Chaplain has a better version on a shorter cooldown, well ♥♥♥♥. 5 minute cooldown on Tacticals skull drone is ♥♥♥♥, it should be 1-2 minutes at most.

Yeah I feel like if anyone gets a buff, it would end up being tactical. I think putting the one person revive on a much shorter cooldown would balance him out with the chaplain.

I think its because chaplain wasnt in the game initially, and they put him in as kind of an all around buff.

Short answer - The Chaplin is just plain better at doing what the Tactical Marine does

Long Answer - IMO the Tac Marine needs his own flavour and some better abilities to help cement his own place on a team.

suggestions:

Overwatch - Replaces the Refractor shield - Places a totem/flag at the Tac Marines location that buffs all allies within a radius around it by boosting their damage per hit and RoF

Battlebrothers - Replace the Servo skull - summon an AI Tac Marine battle brother (with no skills) equiped with a Stormbolter and Power fist who follows you until he dies.

Alongside this give him the ability to equip a power sword and all bolter varients.

At the moment the Tac Marine just feels... well... weak in comparison to the Chaplain.

There is no class focused on manipulating your sourroundings... So to make up for the flaws of the Tactical, they could make him hack faster, reopen closed doors and manipulate turrets. I dont really know the lore, but gamewise this would be pretty awesome to have a class thats all about using the hulks technology for your advantage.

One cool thing I noticed using the Chaplain in the Special Missions; When you revive your Medic he comes back with full ammo for his Healing face drill arm thinghy. So effectively giving you unlimited heals....

So, Tactical Marine level two upgrades the revival ability that both chaplain and tactical have to have much less of a cooldown. The chaplain does NOT have this added CD upgrade.
So, Tactical at level two will be able to revive much more often.

The tactical gets access to much better perks than the chaplain like Skull-Rockets, Strategist, and Eternal Warrior. The Skull-bot is also arguably a much more useful skill than the chaplain's thorns aura.

But other than that (and considering most perks get sidelined in favor of Resilient), yeah, chaplain is essentially Tac2.0.

I took the tactical's perk for bolters / power fists and it is really powerful with the extra armor piercing.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

This sounds really good, give the new banners a use since you can place them already for visual effect
