Lightning Claws - are they viable on No Mercy?
Opinions? This is more of a question post than anything else.

Just curious if anyone has managed to use them effectivly on any class. Spent some extra renown on assault marine to have the perk for 40% increased attack speed then further modified the claws for attack speed and they seem to at least attack fast. However the blocking reduces like no damage and he seems to go down way fast.

I've been running apothocary with hellfires and I'm level 27 now - so pretty much have everything I want on him and would like to experimetn with other weapons and lesser used things but I just can not seem to make lightning claws work and they seem wayyyyyyyyy too slow on everyone but assault marine.

They arent even viable on easy. The attack animations are too slow and half the time when you spam click you stand there doing nothing.

Yes you can upgrade the attack speed but all you do is notice the attack bug faster as you just dont attack for what can be 4 to 5 clicks.

Yes it feels like doing a fatality in Mortal Kombat 2 - where I had to pace my button presses just right and if I went too fast, nothign happend lol.

Tho I am really hoping to hear a success story from SOMEONE lol. I was thinking maybe my apothocary could do it, if I picked up the perk for the slow regeneration. Because its the trash mobs half the time that are ticking my ass down. Then again, he can't attack fast - only the assault marine can xD

UGH, I want them to work, they are so cool lol

I've used Lightning Claws on my Apothecary, but I'm finding I do as well with the Power Fist while still retaining the Hellfire rounds. Still, the Claws have better blocking than the Fist, so it's a tradeoff of stronger defense vs ranged capabilities.

claws are absolutely viable even without any mods. you need to learn attack pattern, how to evade and when you have to pull back with the guard. the best claw use in a team is 2nd row, moving forward when the stealers start to reach the first row. aggro is one the first row, while you can easily clear a group of stealers. the only danger is running into a stalker/warrior leap attack, while being not into the claw animation frames that do damage (during the attack animation, all damage gets transferred to the arms).

with mods, they are OP like a lot of the other stuff (2nd tier OP). fast attack speed claws attack faster than the enemy block animation cycle, you can attack twice and will get through the block. the assault with the extra perk is so fast, that you can ignore any timing.

Okay thats good to know. So my main misconception was trying to be frontline with them. Well I haven't given up on them yet anyway, I've upgraded their attack speed, then got the perk for attack speed and then also upgraded their reach (which seems pretty significant) lol.

Short answer; no

Long answer; Anyone that even thinks of using lightning claws, Emperor have Mercy if it's the Apothecary especially, should be investigated for chaos taint.

+1

if you want to melee just play assault with the purgatory sword. insane attack speed, ridiculous damage, and you get a shield that makes you immune to suiciders.

Claws are immune too, on all classes.
