The Emperor has blessed it, else it would not exist.
First off I run in the Big Picture mode. I bring this up because it can affect controller operation in some games. I always run in BP Mode when using a controller. Most of the time I am streaming to another room using a Nvidia Shield so I have set up my controls a little differently using a config because for some reason the Shield doesn't like some controls on U4 titles. I aim at the Locked door in the tutorial, hold in the right shoulder button then select the Padlock Icon with the Right stick and release both the Right shoulder button and the Right stick once its highlighted and Barachiel hacks it. When the door is open and you want to close it you have to hit the door frame where the door is recessed. They use the icon in the Tutorial for a Locked door which is the Padlock Icon. Opening and closing unlocked doors use the Icon of two arrows pointing at each other.
First, I had to set the game's .exe to Windows 8 Compatibility mode, Disable Fullscreen Optimizations, Change DPI Settings and select Override High DPI Scaling by Application in order to fix the near constant crashes.
Here is where it gets interesting, I capped my frame rate at 30 instead of 60 and the Controller Sticks work in the radial menu now.
This game does not cease to amaze me ^^.

dude. wat. just wat.
you're not playing a console shooter with gratuitous autoaim and ♥♥♥♥♥♥-proof ai to make up for the fact that consoles suck for FPS. use keyboard and mouse like any sane person.
Go into Big Picture Mode. Use your controller. Go to Settings (the Gear emblem on the top right) Select Controller Settings. Make sure you have Xbox Configuration Support checked. Test the game if it wasn't checked.
If it was already checked, or if you are still having issues, go to the main Big Picture Mode Screen. Use your controller and the A button to Click. Select Library>Space Hulk Deathwing. Just Select the game, do not start it. On the left select Manage Game>Controller Configuration. There is a menu at the bottom of the screen. Press X for Browse Configs. On the left select Templates. Then choose Gamepad. This is a generic template for games that are already supported like Deathwing. Then click Apply. Click Done (B button) then use the B button to back out until you are at the Deathwing Screen and run the game. Let us know if that helps.
