Local Multiplayer Controllers are both player 1.

I'm attempting to play this game multiplayer with a friend, but when I get to the multiplayer section, the game is treating both controllers as player 1, so when it comes time for my friend to pick his characters, the only button that works is Circle / B, to go back. Because its just treating both controllers as player one. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Same problem here! Couldn't get it work, so other has to play with keyboard :(

Same here, im using a PS4 and xbox 360 controller. Both pick up as player 1 and wont let me 'press A on controller'

Hey i had that problem too but luckily i had a spare controller.
I'd recommend trying to unplug both and restart the pc,then connect one,launch the game and connect the other one.
If that doesn't work try uninstalling them from the device manager and plug them again.

I have found a short term solution, enable big picture mode (button at top right of steam) go to settings > controllers.

Enable support for any controllers you are using.

Once in game press the home button on the controller (middle button to bring up menu) - Controller options - Rearrange controller order.

This worked for me, hopefully it will for others!

Im not sure what menu you're talking about, pausing the game? or some other menu?
Either way, I found one tip saying to uncheck all the boxes in Big Picture mode, which I did, but then I found something else saying to check all the boxes in big picture mode, so I tried having them all checked, and I think thats made it work for mr

When in game press the home button on your controller (the button between start-select/options) this brings up big picture mode

Ok, I found that doing that on my PS4 controller did that, but doing it on my Xbox controller didnt. But I found the menu you mean now. I just had to swap to my PS4 controller

If you're interested, the middle button on my Xbox controller, the big (X) button, does nothing at all in game. Lucky the PS button on the PS4 controller does.

In response to that.. my middle X button works and it will bring up the Steam menu.. but it was also in Big Picture mode. From there you can also access chat.

Try using DS4Windows and hide Dualshock option.
Steam has issues when you use PS4 controller and Xbox 360 controller at the same time.
