Tree house vs Ground floor shelter
Which is better in your opinion and why? What are the pros and cons for each one?

If you build something big on the ground it will attract warahas who will attack the structure to destroy it. That doesn't happen with tree houses. Tree houses are more bothersome to build because of the base structure which needs a truckload of logs and long sticks, and then a floor.
Warahas don't attack small ground structures. I usaully build single square frames all over the place so rain won't put out my cooking fires, and they don't attract trouble. On the other hand I once built a Y shaped thing (frame with two balconies, three frames on top) and three warahas arrived immediately and staged a mostly peaceful protest.

Thanks for the detailed reply!

I usually build a treehouse, I found that where I like to build it is just not level enough for one on the ground. I usually build over by the abandoned village near the start of story mode, as there is a place to sleep, and a food drier right there. But like giovanniferal said, it does take alot of wood. You can also only build it 3 stories high (though I think that may be the same with gound structures as well). I usually play with natives and predators turned off so I have never had to deal with attacks.
I can't say for sure, but it seems like, you won't draw any wahara raid as long as you don't light a fire in your shelter. So, if you could live with dried meat, fruit and filtered water, build a ground floor shelter is completely fine.
Any need of making charcoal, or works at mud forge though, it's better to do it in your tree house(I think)

Thanks guys, so I suppose it's better to build a treehouse and light fire there, unless the Warahas are disabled. Also, avoid building large structures at ground level because of attacks. I think dried meat takes too long to be ready when you need proteins for the first time at the gameplay.

I think Warahas are way more frequent than Jaguars. By the way, I still haven't tried the forge yet, do you guys have all crafting options already memorized or do you read them somewhere outside the game?

It's more fun to just try stuff.
When you throw something on the crafting block, you see dots above it of how many items you can add. If the dots disappear, it's a combination that doesn't work.

For instance a long stick will show 5 dots. You can craft it into a weak spear, or add up to 4 more things to turn it into something else. There's several combinations possible.

And notes get added to the notebook. It's not just for construction, any crafting recipe and plants you discover are in there too.
Some things get added from increasing crafting skill.

You've got a point there, it's fun when you try stuff and discover something new that can be crafted. Most of the times I just keep trying combinations to see if something different is created. My main doubt is which axe endures more time.
