No lighter?
I am surprised that we can not find a lighter in an abandoned camp, a fishing camp or a drug camp - today it is a common thing, so we should be able to find it ;)

Playing The Forest and then coming to green hell is a little difficult to adjust to the harsh reality of the Amazonian jungle. In this game we have to use a firestarter.
Once you find the tribal firestarter you can make your own. There is also a torch as in a stick with rope lit.
46'W 26'S - Abandoned camp near river with hammock. Identifiable by the heshan roof that are oval and the skeleton tribal statues.
Unlocks: Stone ring, campfire, tribal firestarter, bone knife, bamboo drier, cage trap (nearby).

47'W 18'S - Camp guarded by four or five natives.<< this camp is straight down from the broken bamboo bridge that leads to new map
Unlock: Weapon rack, tribal firestarter. small smoker.

51'W 19'S - Abandoned fishing dock with hammock and sleeping bag.
Unlock: Water filter, fish trap, four prong spear. <<<straight across from Fishing Dock across river up the hill is the Bamboo camp.
52'W 17'S - Unlocks: Bamboo smoker, better torch, medium bamboo shelter, bow.

Jaunitta, I think Bartosz is making the point that lighters are common items you find around drugs. So finding a lighter that has a finite amount of fuel (so maybe 25-100 uses total) and then is trashed that could for instant start a fire when you have next to no energy left would make sense and might be a welcome addition to the game.

maybe not only for drugs - but I think that everybody will take lighter to the jungle instead of having fun in traditional survival. It's quicker to start fire ;)

That's why I mentioned fishing dock or abandoned camp

BTW: I saw the forest trailer where lighter has been used as torch - definitely lighter do not give as much light ...
I surely am not profound to talk about this, as I am not smoking, but: All the smoking people I know are carrying their lighters with themselves... Maybe that's the reason? Don't know...

I`d like to see flintstones and a firesteel to start fires, besides the firestarters we have now(which are great, it just should be a bit more challenging to start a fire).

Yep I like the firestartes we have now. If I'm too tired I just sleep for an hour or two. Difficulty wise I think maybe increase the difficulty to match the game level you're playing.

AWITP - success every time unless too tired.
WTTJ - say 50-60% success rate
GH - 30-40% success rate

No real idea on % success rates just throwing it out there as an idea. However your success rate should increase the more fires you light.

Success should be depending on skill, the higher your "fire" skill, the higher the chance that you can start your fire with the first try. Let´s say at the beginning of the game you have 0 fire skill, maybe you have to try four or five times if unlucky. 50% fire skill maybe you need one to three tries if unlucky. 100% fire skill, the fire should start like it starts now, always with the first try. But there should always be a chance that it starts with the first try too, even with 0% fire skill.

Lighter have a short life, i always carry one also if i don't smoke but i prefer my flint steel, long life, work in every condition. The first time i try to use it i totally destroyed the stone without see sparks, but now 80% of the time i just need one shot . For use it we will need also the charcloth or some kind of mushrooms
There will probably be one. The tutorial mentions one was brought but went missing, which implies in the story one may have been stolen and you can grab it back at some point which likely makes firestarting and the like far easier. If this is the case, survival should have one as well.

Just speculation though.
