Is there a way to stop natives from attacking and breaking your stuff?
Per title, I need to know if there is a way to stop or prevent natives from breaking your things. I want to buy the game but I am seeing people talk about how natives teleport into their house and break their stuff. That to me is a complete deal breaker to have something come remove your progress in the game without a way to prevent that. That is too big a punishment on the player if there is no control.

About the fire. I am new to this game and started a story mode playthrough. As clean water is a rare resource in the beginning, I found out that you can also extinguish a fire by hitting it with the axe - but that's just a side note.

My question to the experienced players: Do natives also get attracted by a fire lit in the rear area of a cave where it can't be seen from the outside? (Or in other words, is it the sight or the smell that attracts them?)
if you light a fire natives will get atracted in one of 2 ways

1- if you leave the fire atended for long having a fire lit wont attract natives

however lighting a fire going away for some time and coming back means when you do come back a couple of unwanted guests will show up

2- if you light a fire and then go to sleep when you wake up natives will be there waiting

does not matter WHERE you light the fire they will always show up no matter how well you try to hide so light a fire stay near it and then extinguish when your done

There is a way. No Fires.
Andrewbh2003 Nov 7, 2019 @ 11:27am
avoid fires "specifically unatended ones" or just disable natives

honestly natives got shadow nerfed this patch anyway they dont spawn often and as long as you know how they work are ez to avoid

so you read random info on a game and decide it sucks? game is not boring there is ZERO RNG as the map is fixed

and there is little to no back-tracking

Yeah the gameplay doesn't sound appealing anymore. You gotta problem with that?

Well how do you decide whether to buy a game or not then? Look at the pretty pictures and whip your wallet out?

That's what's been keeping me from playing for a while. Seriously can we just get some totems to warn them away? No point building permanent bases if they're just going to destroy it.

youtube a couple of good hours of research playing the game myself and deciding whether i want to keep it

in general reviews/forums are not good sources of info and this post proves it the game is neither repetitive with a lot of backtracking or about natives destroying stuff

to also answer this i have 108 hours played and only 1 time have natives ever ever actually attacked my camp and even then its not like they did any "real" damage i took em out

besides if you hate the idea of native attacks that much then just disable them theres options for that easy

Players have additional content, customization options now, you can add or no tribes.
When GH starts select a level then customization.
Or play the A walk in the park no natives no big predators ever.

Alternatively build dryers to replace fires. If you start a fire douse it with dirty water when done. Saves making it again but deters tribes.
Recommend everyone new to this game start the easy level A Walk in the Park

If there were no natives in the game and they did not attack from time to time there would be no rush for me. I like it, I even go looking for them. Once you know where they spawn you can avoid them, or opt out all together as Juanita explains. I have set up spike traps ( see the image in screen shots) and arrow traps around me camp. I also have set up traps that I lure them into. It is part of the fun for me. A Walk in the Park difficulty has no natives.

It's pretty damn pathetic whining and moaning in the forums like this about a feature in a game that you haven't even had the decency or even common sense to read up about, let alone try out. For starters, there's the Safe Haven area where natives can't get to for certain reasons. Secondly (and more importantly), if all you wanna do is build stuff with no danger or consequence (and thus, no real gameplay) involved, then Green Hell is NOT the game you want. Go play Minecraft or something instead.

Ouch.. I am pretty old and still love playing GH A Walk in the Park .
Played over 600 hours of joy.
Steady on there Captain you would be surprised how old some of the players are.
Besides there are those who just love the rain forests and want to get away from the world with no violence.
The wonderful devs here on GH really try to please everyone . :)

I have a fair amount of in- game hours with natives active, i pretty much always have a fire going and i've never had natives enter my base/camp. Although Jaunittas advise is always sound an I think ill consider putting the fire out now. However to be fair i've only ever seen one native spawn near my base in all the time I have been playing.
I guess its just preference to decide if you want natives active or not when your starting out.

Absolutely that's the beauty of this game everyone can play what the want to, I did the hard yards when GH first came last year so many bugs and really scary stuff with the tribes everything at the first live release was learn die learn die lol. Natives could shoot you from the other side of the map. It was crazy and now so many wonderful updates and fixes since then. Now I'm enjoying the freedom. cheers

I've already concluded this isn't the game for me. I'm playing something else and already forgot about this.
