Have you ever quit Sekiro?
Where? Why?

I will defend you here. I simply want to know what boss or foible in the game caused you to stop playing. In fact, if you stopped playing and are reading this, you're the target of my question.

If you stopped and picked it back up, I also want to know what caused you to quit, as well as what brought you back in.

Don't be ashamed. The level of cognitive execution required to succeed in this game may be beyond you. It is made for healthy, young adults.

I quit because I wasnt a fan of all the parry mechanics....I would rather have the option of using it or dodging to win big fights than it being the main point of a fight. It just made me feel like it wasnt my style of playing in souls games.....I played and loved lies of P, Im hoping that when I come back to sekiro, im more patient with that aspect cause its the only souls game I havent finished

I hope you do, because the unique approach to the fights in this game achieves something the souls games do not: It allows you to influence the dynamic of the fight. Not only can you punish your opponents for going all out on you by deflecting their attacks and build up poise damage, you can go on offense and pressure them as well and thus forcing them to react to your attacks and giving up on some attacks and combos they were trying to use. You feel like you're actually fighting them instead of merely reacting to what they do and get some hits in when they allow you to.
There is a downside to this approach, though: You have to play the game on it's own terms. You have to learn to deflect attacks, you have to use the Mikiri counter or you'll have a bad time, while the souls games shine with different approaches to a fight with specific character builds you can make and feel comfortable (or challenged) with.
That being said, giving this game another chance and feeling the satisfaction of having influence on the tides and flows of a great boss fight (and getting punished by failing to do so by being too aggressive or too passive) can be a rewarding experience that the souls games cannot provide you with.

I immediately went to Lady Butterfly as soon as I could, not knowing I could go another direction as well. This was before any upgrades etc. Didn't touch the game for a long time. I'll see it through now though!

Yes I did. I was hyped as hell to play this game, but my potato laptop wouldnt run it. Got a nice rig, fired it up, and got stuck trying to beat the purple ninja to get the crow feathers. Literally rage quit and uninstalled. Then reinstalled, beat the purple ninja and got stuck at lady butterfly. Was ready to quit for good but decided to look up a guide and learned that Sekiro is a lot easier if you just get in there. “Hesitation is defeat” is basically the only tutorial you need to beat the game. After I learned that I beat the game back to back 3 times, last one charmless + demon bell. Best game ever for me.

I'm kinda the opposite, everything has been pushing me to keep playing sekiro

most people probably quit because they couldn't beat something but funny enough I quit right after I beat genichiro because I wasn't that into the gameplay

Gave it another try this year and now I like it

I couldnt cope with boss and enemy design. I didnt go far enough to get stuck i simply got disgusted and quit. Havent played any other souls or souls likes. Currently playing Dark Souls 1 and knew i would like it in first 5 minutes whereas i never had fun in Sekiro. No not a single moment nothing interested me or was fun.

I quit after I beat the game. Been meaning to pick it back up but just haven't found the time.

I "quit" because I can't get my controller to work

Did you try Steam Input? Enable/disable that?

This was my favorite FS game back when it came out. Trying to go through it again and this time noticing just how bad the tutorial popups interrupt the flow of the game. I don't want to install ModEngine just to fix something that should have been a menu toggle, got plenty other games to play

i put 10 hours in in 2020 and got stuck at genichiro 2nd encounter. i just started it back up and have got stuck at genichiro 2nd encounter for another 10 hours.

i cannot believe how much time i'm sinking into it and it just didnt click with me. i understand it but still can't comprehend it. my brain cannot figure this out. mikiri counter i jump. when i'm supposed to jump i mikiri counter.
I wish i could figure it out. seems like it so fun but how many more hours and guides do i need? or is it that i need to give up because it's just not for me. i have no clue.

When you see the red 'Perilous Attack' symbol and you see him jump, he will do one of the following Unbreakable Attacks:

1) Land on his feet and then do a charging attack. This is when you Mikri him.
2) Turn his back towards you and then do a 'sweeping' sword attack. This is when you jump on his head, stun him and then resume attacking him.

He *mostly* uses the 1st move on his first life and 2) on his second life. However, this is not always the case. Many times, he will use 2) on first life, if you force him into certain situations and vice versa. So be careful, do not always assume that just b/c you see the perilous symbol, that he will always use the same move, over and over again, based upon how many lives he has left.
