edit; Just fought all 3 of his variant reflections and he wasn't knocking me back on mikiri counters. Not sure what you mean then.
Side note: You can mikiri counter and PERFECT deflect while having max posture use, if you don't believe me then watch ONGBAL on YouTube, highly recommend watching him, his videos alone have taught me more than what I have learned by my self experience in the game.
Whenever Genichiro want to perform his perilious attack, he will do a heavy attack from above that will knock out the wolf. Sometimes, my knockback animation is still playing while Genichiro begin his perilious attack so i lose control over my character and cannot do mikiri counter. Sometimes it happen, sometimes it not, i don't know what's goin on.
i just try it and it worked! oh my god i don't know it's that simple. I've recently beat Genichiro using that trick, thanks man!
The Mikri Counter works when he does his Unbreakable attack, on his first life. Once you get him down to his last life, you can't Mikri Counter his unbreakable and instead can jump on his head, stun him and then proceed to attack him. You could also simply jump away and then start attacking him.
If he does his unbreakable 'sweeping attack' on his first life (Quite rare), then do the later strategy, I mentioned above.
Thats b/c your facing him in Reflections, which makes the bosses, (esp. Genichiro) much, much more harder to beat. I had the same experience as well and had to radically change my approach to him, so don't use the same tactics.
I know about that, man, in fact, i refrain from doing mikiri counter in his 2nd state
I have a hard time to explain what my problem were,
after Genichiro doing his leaping slam, he will follow up with an attack that could be counter with mikiri. However, sometimes, my knockback animation from parrying his leaping slam is still played so i could not perform mikiri counter to counter his follow up attack. I've tried to spam my button, sometimes it work, sometimes it's not, i failed to understand what is the indicator for Genichiro's thurst attack that couldnt "mikiri counter"-ed.
But it's not a problem anymore, i could beat him with relative ease now.
