Using items that increase your resistences can help a lot I.E. Ungo's and Gokan's sugar. Rice is a great item later and you shouldn't hesitate to use it as you can always go back to the divine child to get more while getting constant Regen.
Also spend all of your money on items and upgrading your Prostetic tool, Mist Raven, and Loaded umbrella are great to help ease you into learning the game while Flame Vent is a great all around tool for various bosses.
When the game released, i grabbed the PS4 Collector's Edition. And it played on 1080p/30FPS with the usual Framepacing issues that Fromsoftware games have on consoles. That was on a PS4 Slim. I can't stress how much harder the game is due to input delay.
I managed to clock 200 hours in the game, completing the game at NG+7 Without the Charm, and With the Bell (Honestly don't know if the bell does anything at that point).
Playing it on a PS5 i realized how much the game is easier when no Framepacing issues are present and the game runs on 60 FPS. Something the PC players enjoyed from the start. One of the main reason i didn't get it for the PC was because the Collector's Edition was sold out.
I would say just practice, USE the prosthethic tools. Don't be fooled by anyone who says they are useless. Each boss has a weakness. Shurikens, Firerackers and Axe, Finger Whistle, etc. The game is easily broken with the default Umbrella. It does insane posture damage when rotating, other variants do a lot of HP damage, too.
If DSP, the useless guy who does't know how to play any video game has beaten this, and there was literally no way to "overlevel" because the Attack Power softcaps at 14 (However it has a steady increase to 28, after that you get minimal gain to 51, but it goes to 98, or 99 if you save a memory.)
Don't use your EXP for Attack Power unless you obtained every single skill.
Mortal Blade is super OP, Overpowered Mortal Blade even more so, coupled with Sugar, Divine Confetit (Small damage boost against every enemy). Other skills are also good to deal damage and avoid damage. Some of them are good at posture damage. It really depends. Yes, everything is situational, but not useless. Use the right tools for the right job.
And remember, hesitation is defeat.
