I'm almost disapointed. I took me 2 times only to beat him. I saw so many videos about this fight, i was expecting harder. ahaha
It's incredible how fights feel 100 times more engaging than Dark Souls. You actually feel like fighting for real and it's so rewarding. You're not just doging and dodging and waiting for a window. This game is a solid 9.5/10 to me so far. What an amazing experience !

Before that I went to beat Lady Butterfly. Tried twice and gave up. What a b*tch ! I returned to Ashina because I felt like I was missing something there. I had indeed missed that spot where you drop down to that path that leads to the white snake and the castle.

She is actually quite easy, attack her until she parries you, then dodge and repeat, do the same on phase 2 and run around the boss room when she summons her mobs.

What I usually do to beat Lady butterfly is get as close as possible and just ATK > ATK > until she ends my string and deflect her. Rinse and repeat. (whenever she jumps you can always shuriken her to the face)

Get's a bit trickier on her second phase if she ends up summoning the apparitions, you'll just wait until she ends'em and keep on the assault.

apparently you can stunlock her in the corner and it prevents her from summoning.

Hi, Jess, yeah, follow Luna, Ace advices. The key to defeat her is not to give too much space and time. She has two attacks where she will jump up in the air. One that she will jump up and then slam down next to you to attack you. This move, she will jump up to get right above you. So, if she does that, move. Whereas the other one is to jump up and then sort of hover in the air and then she will shoot you with her blades. Fortunately, she always pauses a bit so you will have time to shoot a shuriken at her.
She also shoots phantom butterflies at you sometimes. It includes blades, and then some butterflies which would gather above her. While you deflect her dart/blade, prepare to dodge sideway. The butterflies thing will take a moment to mark where you are, then they will fly to you. You cannot deflect or block them. If you try, you will suffer damage. Not only that, she will follow in to kill if you got stunt because your posture bar is broken. Hope this help. Good luck and have fun.

I'm at my 28th attempt now....i'm getting mad as hell. I have no problem with first phase, i get ZERO dammage. I just let her attack, parry, attack and shoot shuriken when she jumps with the red icon.

After that she summons her mobs, I run around the place until they disapear, it's fine. The problem is those d*mn butterflies. On phase one I attack her right after she attacks me, but now I can't because butterflies get to me as soon as im ready to attack, so I have to block them. I get to block them, but posture bar fills up like crazy and she gets to kill me. I really don't know what the f*ck to do !

Just dodge away when the butterflies appear, I wouldn't try to block them. They don't track very well if you're sprinting laterally.

Did you find the Ashina Esoteric Text? The Ichimonji sword art is a great way to punish Butterfly when she's off-balance, I've found. You can always just come back later, too.

Is that b*tch mandatory to beat to progress to the next area ? I think I made a fool of myself claiming that game was not that hard ! ahaha

I think I'll come back later when I have more Gourd. I only got 3 of them.

She's optional mate, you can always come back to get her later!

Dodge butterflies, yeah. Posture doesn't break if you're deflecting, by the way. It will fill up, but not break. Of course, that keeps you on the brink, but practise makes perfect.

And Gyobou is a meme because of his intro, not because his fight is hard. It's mostly the English version as well, and somewhat the Spanish version. The Japanese version of his intro is much more dignified (though if you speak Japanese you'll perceive it somewhat similar to the bombast of the English and Spanish versions, I've been told).

Also, as an aside, in my opinion the game loses a lot if you don't play it in Japanese. Except for Gyobou, whose English-track enthusiasm surpasses all else.

Don't block and don't dodge the butterflies. Just run along the wall, not somewhere in the middle of the room, but close to the wall. If you don't mess up, they will hit the wall without even touching you.

Also, they appear right after those illusions dissolve, and in my experience, some illusions could stay and interfere with your fight even after the butterflies were gone. Thus I used to kill them off right after they appeared when I had the chance, so when the surviving ones disappeared, I just had to avoid the butterflies, and go on to fight LB one on one.

This is true for the butterflies after the illusions, but other butterflies come at you later as you're fighting her, which are probably better off dodged. At least, that's what I remember doing. Though I think if you're aggressive enough you may be able to skip them, but I don't remember for sure.
