Controller stopped working
Was forced to windows update while in-game and once the reboot was over I wanted to get back in. Now Sekiro refuses to work. Doesn't matter the controller. Switch Pro, Xbox 360/One or PS4/PS5. None of them will work. Only Mouse and Keyboard. I've checked the options too.

What's stranger is that the joysticks work fine. On top of that, if I hold the home button down, I can use the triggers for block/attack but no other buttons work still. Sekiro is the only game that does this as I've tested everything else I could. Sekiro no longer works with controllers.

What has not worked so far:
-Rebooting
-Reinstalling
-Disabling HID Compliant game controller in Device manager
-Running as administrator

I got the rest of the achievements on M&K. There are no solutions. The game is just permanently bugged.

It's happening to me too. I can play any other game with my xbox controller on steam except this one. I've tried a lot of fixing methods and nothing....

After >100 h and almost 3 playthroughs, I took like a 10 day break and the game decided it will no longer recognize any of my controllers. DualSense, Switch Pro, Steam controller, I even dug up a wired Xbox 360 controller. No matter what I set on Steam or in WIndows. Tried pretty much everything except for reinstalling Windows. (EDIT: Checked on a different PC and it works fine. I'm so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pissed.)

Leaving this in case someone comes up with a solution.

I found a solution! At least in my case.
I had my steering wheel plugged in and it was considered a 'primary' controller and Sekiro can only use one at a time.
Try unplugging various peripherals to see if it helps. It might not solve everyone's issues but hopefully it will help someone.

It's an absolute blow to Fromsoft's credibility that they would leave a flagship title of theirs, praised for consoles which almost exclusively use controls, with a fundamentally game breaking, console-controller related bug. For the sheer price alone that people pay. Pathetic. Played 50+ hours before my controllers no longer work. Dual Sense / Xbox Series one X / iPega Generic / Sparkfox Generic.

Weak af.

What worked for me was unplugging all other controllers, my wheel namely, soon as I unplugged the USB it worked correctly :104:

It worked. Had a plane sim controller plugged in. After disconnecting it solved the whole issue :er_sweat:

Having the same controller issue, stopped playing for a few months and now my controller no longer works. Tried both ps4 and xbox controller but nothing works ;_;

Controllers work on other games just not Sekiro for some reason.

Try to disconnect any other controllers or pads you are not using, like airplane sims controllers or stuff like that, and just leave the one controller you are going to use to play sekiro. I hope this helps with your issue.

Managed to get mine working by reinstalling windows, not sure what was causing the issue though

I use Linux, never had controller issues with any games.
