Use deflect/block basic attacks. If your stance is full, you must retreat and regain it.
If he picks up dirt from the ground, run towards it. You will automatically follow him again and be behind him. make two attacks
If he lies on the ground and swings his sword at you, run and walk to his right. You can't hit and you have 2 attack chances.
The real important thing is the 3rd stage. Here you have to run away when the purple terror attacks. Memorize this attack and always dodge. Can be blocked with purple umbrella.
In the third stage, when he attacks 3 times and raises his weapon, you should definitely deflect. You have only one right. At this stage, he will let himself fall to the ground. The stage is very easy if you deal as much damage as you can. If you press the spear attack to the head twice, it will take good damage. If you do this step 3 times, he will die easily.
You should definitely and definitely run away when the purple attack occurs. Otherwise the third stage is disappointment
You can repeat that a few times for very good dmg per 3 embelm cost.
Once he goes headless.
If possible use divine confetty for 37.5% extra sword health damage.
His charged slam down attack should be parried at all cost this knocks him down then spear him and pull out the centipide(1 embelm cost)+a few sword slashes after that for very good health and posture damage.
If you want you can even bait him into that attack pattern over and over again.
Getting the sacrifical dagger from the Shicimen warrior can be useful for most boss fights.
in his second phase, he has a vertical swing and if you deflect it, you can use the spear for huge posture and health damage. just watch out for his scream attack. from what i remember he does it after a full combo or two.
This boss is the one I hate the most so far (apart from all the terror inducing mini bosses, of which I just got my purple umbrella and will cheese those mofos), once he goes headless his attack pattern is pure unpredictable crap, even if reading the moves isn't that bad the hitboxes for his attacks are wonky af.
I went the "battle of attrition" way of beating him, baited his double rolling slam attack in the first phase over and over again and chipped his health away slowly but surely.
I did the same in the second phase but there are way less opportunites to go in and do a slash or two. His range is insane.
A tricky boss that stretches the limits for what the game's combat mechanics are made for.
