Sekiro is a fully fleshed out narrative, perfectly contained in this one game.
Wolf's story is done. You'd have to force a new protagonist or do a prequel. Emphasis on "force" here.
I'd rather that they took the Sekiro combat system and made a new game in a brand new setting. A germanic/norse barbarian or something like that, maybe with a sword+shield instead of the Katana and a spear for variety.
Sekiro's done though. Finished, wrapped up. -fin-
Please - ftlog - no more Viking games! More shinobi, YES! more Samurai? Yes. But the whole Viking shtick has been done to death.
There's four endings to Sekiro and only one of them is canon or rather "the true ending." There could be scope for another game in this setting with that in mind.
And another norse game? Really?
Maybe they are part of the 71.2% of people who haven't seen that particular ending?
The setting is just so rich and enjoyable. And after Elden Ring i would love to see something bigger based around Japanese mythology.
Eitherway FromSoftware are releasing bangers every time so we know we will be playing!
Anyways, they could make a sequel in China based on the return ending.
Neither God of War nor AC bothered. Valheim is also highly stylized with little care for what
inspires it.
I 100 % Sekiro and did all gauntlets, I love this game, but in spite of what corporations will knock into your head, sequels aren't always a good idea. Just because there is a way to rationalize MORE, doesn't mean it's a good idea. Sekiro is perfectly self-contained.
I would love for From Software to depict Norse mythology in the same earnest and honest.
And more Samurai games? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ really? There's a million of them, both comically anime and gritty monochrome serious. If I want to play a "viking" game, I still have to deal with the fact that they are more preoccupied with gender/race/sexual orientation quotas than actual storytelling or even gameplay.
The Parry system is just way too addicting and fun. Norse setting aye? We gonna pull a vinland saga and give the main character dual daggers?
Also if we are going to be true to history for this hypothetical game, spears were more commonly used than swords as the latter were mostly reserved for the wealthy. There is a lot of blocking and deflecting in a spear fight.
If we go the route of Sekiro with monsters and gods, surely the boss of the shield can be used for a lot of creative expression - Boss in this case refers to the iron "bowl" in the middle of your typical viking shield. Maybe the rim is iron-lined which in such a case, I can easily imagine it used for deflecting.
Just use your imagination, really.
It would be totally possible to do a Sekiro 2 without Wolf or even in another time.
Also there is a secret ending in sekiro (called Return) which is a cliffhanger about them going west to the birthplace of the divine dragon.
So the story of Wolf is actually not finished entirely because the origin lore includes this ending.
