You can fight everything no problem. Just takes more time in some situations. Minibosses will have double healthbar without stealth.
There is no stealth against big bosses anyway.

In a nutshell, (Edit: I misread the post originally, I must apologize.) for players new to the game, YES. You cannot force your way through this game. First of all, Sekiro is a trained ninja, a shinobi. He is not Conan the Barbarian. Secondly, the game is written in such a way that Sekiro can only fight enemies in front of him. I can tell you from experience, even having a max out Attack Power of 99 and max out health, Sekiro will certain die when surrounded by more then 3 low level enemies. Sekiro, in the game, CANNOT deal with attacks from the sides and behind him.
If you see a group of enemies, you really have to stealth kill as many as you can. Again, from experience, there is always a route to stealth kill most if not all enemies in any area of the games. You just have to plan the route and be patience.
In this game, the stealth side is very much elemental, sort of kindergarten level. Totally not sophisticated at all. So, don't worry. Secondly, the dev. for some reasons, make the enemies having a small cone of vision. Human should normally have a cone of vision around 120 to 160 degree. But in this game, they only have about 90 degree. But they can still hear you if you make too much noise. Always approach by crouching, yes, you will move slower but at the end of the day, more stealth kill, better preserve chance of all your healing stuff and sugars for the use against the boss or higher level enemies towards the end of each area.
There is an art in the 2nd skill tree where you will recover some health after executing a deathblow. You will need about 8 or 9 skill points in total to get this art. This will help to preserve your healing potions, pellets and sugar for facing the boss later.
Hope this help. Good luck and have fun. :)

Have to, or it's easier? I've walked right up to the enemies at the first Taro Troupe brute, and fought them without stealth; but it's certainly not easy and the group combat is a cardinal sin. You really just have to learn to circle around groups during combat to engage the weakest, or fastest following. No, you really can play the whole... ( ok, minus the serpent, I think, idk I've actually seen people deflect it xD )... game without stealth, but it will be more difficult and less fun. You just have to select your targets and position wisely.

I hate stealth too in games, but this is short and snappy stealth. You're not avoiding big sections of enemies, but rather stealth around an enemy to get a oneshot or to take one hp bar off a miniboss.

I guess some areas you can stealth, but it's nothing tedious.

Stealth is not necessary. Helpful? Very. Required? Maybe if your right click stops working.

A few ways to deal with multiple enemies in sekiro include but are not limited to:

-Hit and run till the crowd thins

-Reposition so that all the enemies are visible and you can pick off outliers, or deflect the crowd till you get a good opening to counterattack

-Use one of the many fairly decent crowd control tools (firecrackers, flame vent, and spear to name a few)

-Use literally any of the ninjutsu's, they're all good for crowds. Just get one kill, vault over for a backstab, and you've pretty much won.

-Just run, you run faster than everything else in the game excluding some bosses

you dont need to stealth your way through if you can manage to take on normal enemies or certain bosses at full health. if you set yourself up where your jutsu and special combat move can clear through then its not a problem. with the lore/story of this game, the stealth aspect is my favourite thing about this game since the takedowns you can do are quite fun.

Pushing through with brute force is like... playing the game in the hardest way possible. You lure one enemy, you will probably end up luring them all at the same time.

Nothing is impossible, but doing this is close enough, i feel like the game is made for one on one combat in mind, if you lure a big group of enemies you can go brute force one vs all but you will need to execute a strategy to not get hit, because if you get hit once you will stagger and the other enemies might follow up, it might mean your death. Also when group fighting, it will be useless to rely on posture damage, a mechanic that is very important to kill enemies and works the best in one vs one scenario where you can keep pressuring the same enemy without worrying about interference.

I would say stealth is key in this game, it's modern Tenchu after all.

Without stealth it will be ballz hard. There's areas with too many enemies grouped together. Systematically thinning the herd via stealth deathblows / tactical retreat is by design.
