How did you kill the Monkey crowd first time?

Just curious to see how people handled that monkey pile.

I saw it and thought "oh my god, this must be THAT SCENARIO when I actually have a use for the Glaive

It did not disappoint

First time, I literally just jumped into the middle of the crowd, frantically swinging left and right and tossing shurikkan. Somehow managed to kill them all with a tiny bit of health, no healing gourds or res left. On NG+ though I remembered that I had the whistle, used it and watched the mayhem unfold.

Meat Grind everything with dodge and attack.

yeah no, this is about the CLOUD of monkeys, the absolutely massive hoard of regular monkey mobs that are protecting like 2-3 items in sunken valley @sailor_seller. fantastic little fight. I sprayed firecrackers everywhere and used the blood cloud ninjutsu to backstab as many monkeys as i could before i ran out of spirit emblems. from there I used weapon arts to try and stab/slice through the rest. Honestly forgot about the glaive spear type, haven't used it at all and im on ng+11

I jumped directly into the middle and did the circle of firecrackers, which i think staggered every one, then went on a finishing spree. Had to use a few more firecrackers as they recovered, but it was a fun time.

i ran after them like an idiot, and being very confused why there was this weird sound following me.

oh, the monkeys before the ape boss, just run and dash attack over and over

At that point I already had Okinaga's Flame Vent, do I need to say more?
RT + Hold RT = A pile of roasted monkeys.
Took about three seconds I believe.

Well . . . I am not part of it . . I did not look it up the internet for nothing before I defeated the dragon (and with it I found out I missed Hirata 2) but then I did not check for any of the other bosses either . . . I checked just to see if I lost something (and in fact I did on my first run).
