In my first playthrough I played Sekiro in my native language(German), so that I can understand everything that's being said without having to look at subtitles.
My second playthrough was in japanese and sometimes it was hard for me to understand what's being said without the subtitles, but it was really immersive and the voice acting was fantastic.

But yeah the rest of the dialogue sounds better in Japanese.

Neither do I but that's why subtitles exist. It just sounds really fitting for the japanese theme of Sekiro and there's nothing manlier than an experienced Samurai Warrior speaking japanese angrily.

The english voice acting is kind of cringe. The Japanese sounds more natural.

I used Japanese and will probably never use English. I'm an avid reader, so I don't know if that makes a big difference.

Meh. I kept it japanese because i wanted it to sound like what the devs intended. I already have this compulsion to read subtitles even if its english so why not play it in ♥♥♥ so i have to read the subs anyway?
As long as its clear how the characters are feeling when they say something, i don't have to understand the language.
