I bet there will be references though.
I think From might go back and retry their hands at making a real Tenchu sequel after this but its purely speculations.

As for this game, so far it's being touted as a completely new IP, with no Patches, no Moonlight Greatsword, etc. Voiced protagonist, an actual story unfolding. I don't know. Obviously it will feel a little Soulsborne-like, but I think Sekiro is it's own thing.
a no dachi would have been the closest thing to a greatsword but was a anti calvary sword and has some use vs pole arm troops. Not wieldly at all like most eu great sword which were fairly mobile for their size, a no dachi wants to go the way it wants to go once it gets going. but it was supposed to be chopping the legs off horses at full gallop.
Eh maybe these eras are all linked, be kinda of interesting if death ridden or violent times create souls like universes of the dammed. Obviously this is set in a bloody war torn era of japan that raged for centuries. bb could have been set during the black plague or ww1. souls could have been the waystation for some "hell on earth" era set among medevil swords and scorery times.
But its flat easier to just make them their own thing and not tangle up the lore any more.
