Just curious, have you missed out anything that make you want to go back? Unless you haven't faced the lone swordman in the bit where Sekiro was right at the beginning of the game... Oh dear, you miss out a prayer bead.
What's your point?
I am just proving, it already has. And what do you even mean by "it did quite well for them"?
Whats your problem in here? There is much text, describing somewhat Sekiro, but I can't actually find what you complain about.
You go to the Castle entrance, where you beat Gyobu, the horseman, and there is a new boss. So? Is that this "major scandal"? That From Software forces you to fight twice in the same location?
Or maybe you have troubles understanding Sekiro lore, as you probably dont know who the Demon of Hatred is?
I know Sekiro quite well, really. If you have any actual problems, I will be glad to help.
Maybe we got different interpretations of the word success, but to me, it is hard to call something a success with flaws as obvious as these. It's convenient to watch advertisements and have something portrayed bigger than what it is, but almost impossible to play through the game and not see these flaws and then not complain about them when you have devloped any self-respect. I don't say this game is irrelevant, but that, in the end they also treated it like it was. So, can you please try to establish a higher set of values and be sincere instead of just trying to be easy-going?
