Sekiro: mod to fix one specific thing?
The Dragonrot. Now, parry-and-riposte is not my forte, but Sekiro's gorgeous setting is interesting enough that I'm willing to learn. I'm fine with the difficulty as is; I'm glad to put the effort in. However, one fly in the ointment is Dragonrot, and I feel it goes completely against the themes of the game.

In a game so heavily based around learning boss patterns via your immortality, losing gold and XP isn't an issue; I can always go grind more. But the dang Dragonrot, and the knowledge that excessive deaths can rob me of sidequest progression, completely removes my desire to leap into the meatgrinder and learn by experience. I wish at least that Dragonrot cures were infinite.

ive played sekiro for hundreds of hours and i havent been affected by dragonrot once and ive died a lot. dragonrot never affects your gameplay, it only affects certain questlines and theres more than enough items to cure it
If you look at the bottom of your screen when you go to Menu, you will see an item called "Unseen Aids 30%". Normally, when Sekiro dies twice, Sekiro will respawn at the nearest Idol or the point where an automatic saved was made. Sort of like a checkpoint save. With the Unseen Aid at 30%, Sekiro has 30% chance not to lose half XP (that has not reached skill point) and half of gold in his possession. If Sekiro dies 8 times (total sum of death), Sekiro and certain NPCs will suffer from Dragonrot. When NPCs suffer from Dragonrot, there maybe a few consequences. NPC will not respond to any request for conversation. If it is a vendor, he will not be able to conduct business, i.e. no sale. The worst scenerio is that NPC responsible for story progress will not talk to Sekiro and hence cannot progress the story. In Sekiro, each advance in stage of story is triggered by flags. One of such flags is conversation. Others are action, like picking up certain artefact, killing certain bosses, etc..
So, as you have said yourself, you don't mind going back to killing the same minions, you don't really need to worry about suffering from Dragonrot. if you really hate it, you can always backup the saved game files manually before starting a fight with bosses, You don't really need a mod to avoid dragonrot.
Incidentally, the first time you suffered from Dragonrot, you have to talk to Emma and exhaust all the conversations. Then she will ask you to collect a blood sample from another Dragonrot sufferer. Collect the sample and return to Emma. She will then gives you a charm and a Dragonrot droplet. It is then you can recover from Dragonrot at any Idol. But you must have a Dragonrot droplet in your inventory.
Dragonrot droplet can also get rid of the black bar which prevent Sekiro from resurrecting again after resurrecting once. Hope this help. Good luck and have fun :)

Strange, I remember hearing from somewhere that there was a finite number of Dragonrot cures, and if all were used up, you could be locked out of NPC storylines permanently.

But I read the wiki, and the Recovery Charm is infinite-use, and Dragon's Blood Droplets can be repurchased from Merchants after the previous one is used, for a very cheap 180 sen. And if I'm reading it correctly, curing Dragonrot from a Buddha does NOT use up a Droplet; only using it in combat to unlock the Resurrection meter does. Is this all correct?

If this is the case, then I'm willing to give Sekiro another chance, for real this time. I want to learn spectacle fighters, and Sekiro can help smooth out that grind by combining it with a genre I'm already comfortable with (Soulslikes).

It is true that there is a finite number of Dragonrot droplets (collectable ones) available in the game.
As regard to droplets on sale at vendor, it is true that it will respawn once it is used. However, I have only bought the respawned one ONCE. But while I was playing Sekiro without the Kuro's Charm and my perfect parry success rate was only around 60 to 70%, I found myself quickly using up my droplets, not from curing dragonrot but from getting rid of the black bar. And I went around to all the vendors that sell the droplet (by the way, not all vendors sell the droplets), I had found none! So, there may be a time involved in the respawn of droplet at vendors but I haven't worked out how long. There is no info on this aspect on the internet. But once the perfect parry success rate has gone up to 80% to 90%, there is virtually no need to use any of the droplets. Maybe this is the reason for no more information on droplet.
As to curing Dragonrot at Idol, I can confirm that it does use ONE droplet.
Finally, as a general rule, if you are not in a fight, use the Jizu Statue to get rid of the black bar. Only use droplet to get rid of black bar during a fight. And always rest at Idol to recover your lives. Of course, there may be circumstances where you don't want to rest at idol as this will respawn ALL enemies in the area where the Idol is. Well, I will say this much, as long as you know what you are getting into, i.e. how many sugars, healing potions, pellets left, whether they are enough for you to face the boss class enemy, then by all means use the droplet to rid of the black bar.
