Seven Spears of Ashina
ARRRRRGHHH I hate this mini boss. His attacks have ridiculous range, he takes off 90% of your HP with each hit, and if you Mikiri him, HE staggers YOU instead of vice versa. PLUS in order to get to him you need to stealth-kill like 5 enemies, inch your way along a cliff face, and sneak through a hole in the wall in order to backstab him. Then when he kills you in two combos, you have to do it all over again.

I'm not even fighting him anymore, since I looked up the location of another prayer bead to complete my set of 4. But I must have wasted an hour banging my head against this guy. I hate him with a burning passion.

Easy way to win him. Stealth through the route which u take during the tutorial. Enter the house and deathblow him from behind. 2nd phase, use oil + flame vent and hit him 4 times. Rinse and repeat. If you mastered the mikiri counter, that would be even easier.

As for the normal enemies, you just have to stealth your way through all of them using the top part of the map and then travelled exactly as you did in the tutorial.

Like the previous users before this post mentioned, you have to grapple hook to the other side and kill the alarm guy first! Then proceed to kill the 2 gunner(one on the other side) Then travel stealhtily down the left side of the map and kill the unsuspecting soldier. Pretty sure that's all you need to kill to avoid any interruptions during the boss fight.

One good thing about this game is it is the boss fights are designed in the least troublesome way if you failed to beat him. There are always many ways to circumvent a seemingly insurmountable boss fight like taking care of the soldiers guarding a boss first or using stealh path to reach the boss

or you can climb onto the roofs to the right from the idol and grapple hook to the aera where he is standing and do a sneak attack there, you will avoid all the soldiers that way

edit: i just mostly ran all the way through to him and that worked fine as well aside from having to wait a minnit for everyone to calm down.

in case you didnt know he can follow you into the house all the way up the stairs and attack you inside

Maybe you can beat him now with newfound knowledge and perspective after six months if you haven't done so

I think he completed long time ago.

Don't you need to Mikiri counter and then immediately deflect his own counter? I missed this for my playthrough and my first encounter of one is Masaji Oniwa who not only has a GREAT SWORDSMEN as back up, there's no stealth angle while he and his buddy are facing opposite directions each <> (TROLL?).

Not sure what you mean about Mikiri, you don't get to attack him right afterward but the counter itself works like always. Sometimes his thrusts even have an attack right after that when deflected, gives you a giant window to hit him. I had a lot of trouble with him initially as well, but he honestly isn't that bad. Focusing more on deflecting rather than attacking might help?
He's talking about Seven Spears shoving you back after you Mikiri counter him.
