How did you deal with the second phase? The moment I got one of the apes staggered, the second one attacked me. I had nearly no opportunity to do some damage to them. That's why I decided to finish the less tanky one as soon as possible,
Btw, I still have no firecrackers and no spear. But it's not like I need the spear in this fight, as the headless ape is easy with just a sword. But using firecrackers on the brown one would've made the fight trivial I guess.
I mean I have no firecrackers as far as I can tell. I think I've seen then at one of the merchants, but I decided that I can go without them.
Edit: Sorry, I made a mistake. Not the 3rd level, it's the 2nd level, the long spark. Cast 5 of them on the brown ape and it will be dead. If not, its posture is totally broken by now. One more hit from Sekiro will be the end of it. Some people may say that this is not the proper way to fight. I think not. As long as it is not things like get right close by the door and keep swinging. Due to oversight, the blade can hit through the door or wall, now this is not the proper way. Miyazaki and his team designed both the firecrackers and the brown ape. The brown ape has very ow posture and the long spark firecracker can damage posture, though very small.
Thanks. I already figured out that I'm screwed as far as the upgrades go. I guess I'll pick up the missing tools at some point. I think it was a mistake to make the upgrades dependent on getting all the prosthetics. Overall, Sekiro has even less build flexibility than I thought.
Even if you know how to back up saved game files, i.e. you will never die and as a result, lose half of your hard earned XP and gold, you still have to play a NG+ because there are only 6 lazulites in one game. To upgrade the prosthetic tool tree to the full, you need 12!!! Yeb, you cannot farm this lazulite stuff.
As I said, headless ape is trivial on its own. I guess my problem was the lack of firecrackers to deal with the second ape
If I recall correctly, my first win on this boss was thanks to Mortal Blade just ending the second ape's entire career. I don't think I relied on the firecrackers. Though, they're only 500 sen from an early shop, you really should do some backtracking to get the prosthetics you missed. Some of them can be really powerful!
