I don't think this game is very fun...
It feels like a slog. When I finally overcome a tough enemy, I don't feel victorious, I just feel... done. I spend most of my time in this game feeling frustrated and it just doesn't feel rewarding.

Is my brain broken?

It's not for everyone. Cheers to you for keeping an open mind and trying it anyways.

I felt similar at first. Here's the thing - the game isn't that hard. The enemies are intimidating, and they don't seem to take a lot of damage...but...neither do you. Blocking is almost 100% safe, tapping L-1 to parry is totally viable. Even holding block regenerates your guard-guage faster. You're a ninja, fighting other ninjas/people. Not a knight duking it out with giant beasts. It's not about waiting for your opportunity to punish - it's about creating one.

Learn all the ninja tools, what they do, what is weak to them. Grind a bunch of skill points (Practicing against mobs you struggle with) and learn all the esoteric arts - or at least a couple that you really like and abuse the hell out of them.

Go to youtube and watch some videos of skilled players - I think the problem you might be having is not fully understanding the POWER that you have as Sekiro. He is an absolute UNIT and when you see what you're leaving on the table you might change your mind.

You're probably just a pleb. Go play mobile games.

Yep. My thoughts as well.

I'm not BAD at the game. I kill the bad boys, including the mini bosses and not-mini bosses. It's just never enjoyable.

Just ignore the epic elite hardcore gamer over there.

Honestly, if you're not having fun, there really isn't anything you can do about it right now. I had a similiar experience with Cuphead at first. The issue was, that i wanted to beat that game for the sake of it, not actually play it to have fun. I just took a break until i was like "I wanna play Cuphead now" and ended up having a lot more fun with it. Maybe that will do the trick? Either that or the game just isn't your cup of tea.

If you are not trying to dash through attacks and instead use deflecting as the game intended as well as run in their face and attack until they deflect you since the game rewards aggression- and you are still not having fun, I'd say the game is not for you. Go play something else.

Game does terrible job of teaching you the "proper playstyle" - I still haven't figured it out. I'm fighting some "boss" guy that's on a mount in this massive field and he just ♥♥♥♥♥ me up every time I play, so I quit.

I repeat for the third time, I am not struggling with the game. I am not stuck, there is no enemy giving me trouble, there is no boss that is too hard for me.

I beat Shichimen Warrior and a Headless without pacifying agent, I killed every miniboss without issue and only got "stuck" on the lightning phase of a certain boss because I kept mis-timing my jumps and died repeatedly -- DON'T OFFER ADVICE, I ALREADY BEAT THE BOSS, CHECK MY ACHIEVEMENTS -- but like I said none of this has been FUN. It's just been tedious.

Then... why are you still doing it?

I don't really know. Obligation?

Like I said, go play something else. Games are meant to be fun. Why are you playing a video game that you don't find enjoyable?
Cpt.P1mp Oct 12, 2019 @ 4:00pm
Its ok, i found it tireing as well. As i got better at the game it become more enjoyable as i just cut through butter.
But yeah it just feels UNFAIR, since i compared it to dark souls. Don't wanna go into to many details, but it just doesn't feel like a FAIR game, DS did.
Beating a challenge made me feel like finishing a chore, no sense of acomplishment.

Your brain isn't broken. It's okay to not enjoy something.
