Just beat Charmless + Demon Bell

Holy crap, so frustrating in parts, but by the end you feel like an absolute boss. Went back to NG+4 regular to play gauntlets and did a bit of story, and it feels so easy by comparison. Base game just feels unrewarding after Charmless.

Also bosses are nuts. Emma and Isshin were kicking my ass for 3 days.

What are your experiences like with Charmless?

Honestly, give it a try. Its not as difficult as it seems, and much more rewarding once you get into it. Definitely felt like learning the game again for the first time in the beginning.

Pretty much the same, it's like learning a lot of the fights again, but once you do it non-charmless seems trivial.

Oh hell no. I killed all of them in my first run, before fighting Ishin and never touched them again. Its such a pain in the ass to kill them. Havent tried with the whistle though, might be easy with yashariku, confetti, malcontent.

I'm far from finished with my NG+ playthrough (only now starting to explore Ashina Castle) but I decided to do it Charmless + Demon's Bell, and it definitely feels like how the game "should" be played.

The Demon's Bell I'm a little iffy on because it's a straight number change, but the chip damage you take when playing Charmless completely raises the stakes. You can no longer just kick back and observe enemy attacks, and it forces you to really master the deflects because anything less, especially against bosses, will have you dead before long.

It's also encouraged me to use the Prosthetic Tools a lot more, which I hardly did on my initial playthrough. All around, NG+ is proving to be a very fun experience.

Good job on your accomplishment by the way. Beating the game charmless without a demon bell is one heck of an achievement.

Late to this thread, I tried charmless on NG++ and gave up, I had to step back and do a NG to prepare myself mentally, so I did a NG 100% for educational purposes and now doing a NG+ charmless, Owl took me 3 hours to beat, and if I compare how I was fighting at the beginning and to the last attempt where I beat him, you would think there are to different people.

Charmless NG++ beat me so hard that I decided to go for Demon of Hatred legit for the 1st time with Demon Bell, got him on my 3rd attempt.

To conclude, I'm going to say this: Charmless is live !!!
