I want to buy it but I'm afraid of Dragonrot
Hello,

Big DS fan, I want to try this but I heard that if you die alot (which will happen) NPCs get dragonrot and they die after while and you can't finish their questlines.

Thanks

here's a detailed explanation:

a comment also pointed this out:
>dragon rot can only occur if you’re out of revive nodes or press L1. If you have a revive node and use it, it will not spread since you are not fully dead. I’ve tested this in the early game so it’s all good.
> if you choose not to revive even if you have revive nodes, then that spreads the dragon rot. As long as you can revive yourself through the nodes, it will not spread. Emma explains the why of it later.
>The final, key thing to know about Dragonrot is that it is acquired when you fully die only. Your use of the resurrection mechanic, where you can revive and continue fighting or fleeing, doesn't seem to affect the rate at which you acquire Dragonrot in our experience. Resurrecting, resting at a Sculptor's Idol to restore the lost resurrection charge, and continuing means you won't get any Rot Essence no matter how many times you repeat that process.
Hope this helps.

dude screw npcs and their questlines this isnt what the game is about. its non stop top quality full action game with fantastic combat. also you dont need to complete quests to get all achievements

So I was worried too about that before I got it. Dragonrot is a joke. Sure you'll be scared at the beginning when people have it, but you can "cure" it with items.

My first playthrough even no one ended up dying from it. I've now beaten the game 7-8 on two or three new saves or so and am on NG+6 on one of them. Still never had a Dragonrot death.

Dragonrot is literally a joke that will never impact you more than the time it takes to select cure from the bonfire. NPCs can't die from it, it just prevents you from progressing their quests. I'm at NG+++ and have over two dozen gems just occupying inventory.

there is more then enough dragon rot cure to use after every boss to progress questlines.

legit no risk even if you die a lot.

If you could deal with the possible loss of souls on death in DS, you are more than capable of dealing with dragonrot.

Dragonrot is a completely useless feature so dont worry. They dont die. You can easily cure it. The merchants replenish their stock with items used to heal it after u use the ones u bought. Theyre fairly cheap. Its literally just a bother of spending half a minute to cure it and a tiny bit of cash if u manage to die a whole lot. Buy it trust me u wont regret it.

yeah the dragonrot is pretty much entirely useless feature that can be cured so easily. I think they would have done better to take that whole thing out of the game. The Game is very forgiving really, I would say much more so than dark souls.

Dragonrot can be cured with an item called Dragon's Blood Droplets that can be found in different types of areas, once you do a simple questline with Emma after you get your first Rot, you can start her questline and gain access to using it via Sculptor's Idol. That becomes very easy at least as a beginner, i don't care about dragonrot either.
