Can't beat Lady Butterfly

This is starting to piss me off I've been stuck on her for hours, I keep trying to dodge her attacks but I still keep getting hit I can't even beat the first phase without using all my healing items and revive.

If she is your first boss in the game you can skip and come back later. She is difficult for beginners. Also try don't use dodge as basic counter, despite the fact that tactics with dodge and hit worked early. In this game deflection is the main defense. You deflect enemie's hit when tap LB at right moment. Lady Butterfly is beated well and fast using deflection in first phase. If you keep the timing (hit and deflect) it 's sometime possible even to prevent her from jumping on the threads in first phase becouse her jump stance is easy to read. Also shurikens are very helpful when she jump. They do good damage to her posture when she is in the air.

I skipped her and came back a looooot stronger, you don't have to fight her now.

She is definitely an early game wall, but you got this dude. Like the other people have said, you can come back a little bit later. Hitting her with shuriken in mid-air kills her posture. Try not to worry about the spirits in 2nd phase. You can do this by keeping the pressure on and preventing her from summoning them, or, as GameChamp3000 might say, running away like a little sissy baby until she yeets them at you is a perfectly valid strategy XD. second sentence exacly proving why you failing : I keep trying to dodge her attacks but I still keep getting hit. Because you not suppose to stop playing dark souls in sekiro and learn parry to win.

I spammed her with shurikens in mid-air and during phase 2 when you kill illusions they give you spirit emblems so you can spam her with shurikens even more :D

This is a legit strategy, her pose breaks a lot if she gets hit in the air. Different bossess in this game need different approach, this is what works with her.

tap tap tap deflect the kick and repeat ... if she does her unblockable just jump

Give it a rest and come back later. It was my first boss and I got stuck a whole night without much progress. I went to sleep, then at the next day, it clicked: LB, deflecting, damages her posture much more quickly, while dodging should be used only on her Perilous Attacks. This game rewards you for being in front of the enemies, hugging them.

Your timing with LB doesn't need to be perfect, just close enough, so if you spam LB while she is spamming her attack, you will probably deflect most of them. Notice that even if you aren't hitting her, her posture bar will get damaged quickly this way. Just learn her dance, that's the way for most of these bosses.

Even if it takes you a couple of days, once you get the gist of your first hard boss (be it Lady Butterfly or Genichiro), the rest of them should be much easier to solve.

Lady Buttefly teaches you an important lesson: be aggressive. She crumbles under a nonstop onslaught of attacks and deflections. Sekiro isn't about dancing around your opponent. It is about meeting them head-on and being in their face as much as possible.

How can I even deflect? I can never get the timing right all I can do is just block.

You press block when someone attacks.

That's what I do but I just block the attack without deflecting it or get hit for doing it too slow.
