There seems to be a day/night cycle but how does it work?

Progressing the story change the season and time of day.
I also saw some people saying the time of day change depending on what bosses you have defeated.

It is not naturally anyway:)

It depends on where you are in the story.

If you want the exact triggers, here you go (spoilers):

- You start the game in the early hours of the morning when you meet Genichiro for the first time.
- After you receive the Shinobi prosthetic, it is sunrise in Ashina.
- Picking up the White Lotus of the Palace after defeating the Guardian Ape triggers Noon in the in-game world.
- Either reaching Fountainhead Palace or defeating the Divine Dragon triggers Night. I'm not too sure about this one.

third stengment isnt even remotly corect
I believe it progresses with getting the mortal blade, white lotus, and shelter stone. Where getting each will change the time closer to evening. Then, either going to Fountainhead Palace or beating the True Monk makes it turn night. Finally, beating the Divine Dragon triggers the final invasion/endgame.

The phantom enemies you come across also change with each time progression, getting harder as it gets closer to night.

Well your previous statement is as correct as your spelling and punctuation; wholly incorrect.

Defeating a boss does not necessarily advance the time of day forward and the whole “beating the 5 th boss” thing triggers night is absolute gibberish.

As soon as you reach Ashina Castle or even before you reach the Castle, the game branches out significantly so you can choose your own path. Your statement is objectively incorrect as the fifth boss could mean anyone from:

Gyoubu -> Lady Butterfly -> False Corrupted Monk -> Genichiro -> GUARDIAN APE

Gyoubu -> Genichiro -> Guardian Ape -> False Corrupted Monk -> FOLDING SCREEN MONKEYS

Gyoubu -> False Corrupted Monk -> Genichiro -> Guardian Ape -> DOUBLE APE

Gyoubu -> False Corrupted Monk -> Genichiro -> Guardian Ape -> OWL or SHURA ISSHIN

Gyoubu -> Genichiro -> Guardian Ape -> Owl or Shura Isshin -> FALSE CORRUPTED MONK

Gyoubu -> Genichiro -> Folding Screen Monkeys -> Guardian Ape -> LADY BUTTERFLY

None of these “5th” bosses ever trigger night time in the game so your statement has been invalidated and rendered null.

You need both the Serpent Viscera (Dry or Fresh) AND the Lotus.

When I picked the Lotus only and did not pick the Viscera, nothing changed at Ashina Castle.
After I got the Dry Viscera (as I had already the Lotus), Everything at Ashina Castle changed.

The Viscera, both of them, are optional items not required to beat the game if you're going for the Immortal Severance, Shura or Purification Ending. It is only required if you're going for the Dragon's Homecoming/Return secret ending.

You can still complete the game without ever obtaining these items and the time of day will still change regardless. In fact the most common ending according to Steam Achievements is the Immortal Severance ending (23.6% of players) which does not require any Serpent Viscera to be collected and nor do you need to kill the Great Serpent.

When I killed the Ape and nothing changed at Ashina Castle, I tried beating Corrupted Monk, nothing.

As the Serpent at the plunge point was not there (a glitch), I gone for the dried one.
Just after I got to the dried Viscera things changed at Ashina Castle.

Dont know how tf to proceed without it as it seem it is needed the lotus and the viscera (both) to proceed and to get the Lotus it is needed to kil the Ape.

Maybe reading a guide I would find an ending that dont require both or a way to change Ashina Castle without both (the Immortal Severance, Shura or Purification Ending, none of the 3 I could find a way without the Viscera but, Shura seem to require Ashina Castle to change as it is needed to find Owl at the top of the castle, so the whole castle must change for that what, once again, I could not make it work without both the Lotus and the Viscera).

That's odd.

Collecting the White Lotus is the trigger for Noon in the game + the invasion of Ashina Castle by the Interior Ministry ( source [sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com]).

Were all of the Idols at Ashina Castle except for the Abandoned Dungeon Idol blacked out for you after you collected the Lotus? If they weren't, it's possible that your game bugged out.

No.

Again ...
On 2nd playthrough, the Serpent was not at the plunge point, also I had already defeated the Ape, got the Lotus, returned to Ashina Castle "through the Kuro room idol" and checked, nothing changed at Ashina Castle.

Killed Corrupted Monk, The monkeys for Puppeteer, nothing changed.

I got the Dry Víscera, Ashina Castle changed and Owl was at the top of the castle.

Because it's a possibility, that's why.

If you read the post properly, I said that the game branches out after you reach the Castle so there is no definitive "5th boss" that triggers night. And besides that, Lady Butterfly isn't even a hard boss anyway. Her AI is so prone to abuse that the player can literally repeat the same set of actions and cheese her for both phases.

Now, do you have any counterargument or rebuttal of your own or are you going to continue to nitpick the slightest of details?

Killing Emma is the worst thing you can do. Surely we can agree on that?

Killing Lady Butterfly early on gives you an extra memory early on in the game which gets you more attack power so why not?
