This game is linear as hell it's not like if you are bad at something you can't grind to 1 shot everyone git gud and learn how to parry.

Edit: you ain't beginner. hell no you already have 43 h.

Are you looking for 100% completion ASAP, an easy-ish path to quick xp / gold farm on your first run, or following the story?

Those are all very different paths.

like 100% completion but with the easiest path...i dont want to be forced to fight bosses without the right prosthetic or items for example bc its just going to be harder for me
I'm typing something special up for ya. It'll take a bit though so hang in there for an hour or three.
Note: There are a ton of guides out there. This is how I do it. I'm sure there are more effective paths.

I used this walkthrough page after I figured the game out and decided I was pushing for 100%.

https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Walkthrough

Almost everything can be completed in the first playthrough except for the last couple of prosthetics and the Man Without Equal achievement. I highly recommend getting all the skills in a NG+ game. The grind in the first playthrough will be horrible and NG+ adds XP per kill every time you up the NG count up to - I think - NG+7.

https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Trophy+&+Achievement+Guide

You can complete multiple endings in the same playthrough if you collect all of the items before fighting Owl at the top of Ashina Castle. If you don't want to do that you'll have to complete the endings achievement in multiple passes through NG+. My path below can show you fast ways through the game.

---The prosthetics I would focus on for your first playthrough are:

Good for stunning enemies. You'll see people use firecrackers and ash to perma-stun some mini bosses on youtube. It works.
https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Long+Spark

You'll need this for some of the bigger bosses that you meet mid-way through the game. Get it early.
https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Loaded+Spear+Thrust+Type

This is used for the final boss fight if you're not strong enough to parry a boss through 4 deathblows. ;)
https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Loaded+Umbrella+-+Magnet

This umbrella is very useful against apparitions. It will help you get the 100% boss completion achievement in your first playthrough.
https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Phoenix's+Lilac+Umbrella

When you have lapis lazuli, I recommend this upgrade for the axe. It acts like Peas and dispells illusions.
https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Lazulite+Axe

--Items
You also want this item which is easier to get if you have the Lilac Umbrella.
https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Ceremonial+Tanto

And this item to help with apparitions. I had a very hard time with them in my first playthrough.
https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Mottled+Purple+Gourd

Make sure you're grabbing these at every opportunity as they are limited in quantity and have achievements locked behind collecting them.
https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Treasure+Carp+Scale
https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Lapis+Lazuli

--Merchants
Pay attention to quests for this guy. He has very helpful items with his final set of merchandise which will turn key items into commonplace ones once you can afford to buy in bulk.
https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Anayama+the+Peddler

--Story Path
As for getting stuff done quickly, I recommend the following path through the game. This is how I run my NG+.

Avoid Hirata Estate right away and make your way to Ashina Reservoir as soon as you can. You'll need to get to Ashina Castle. Go back to the place where you started the game.
https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Ashina+Reservoir

You're headed to Mibu Village by way of the Ashina Depths. It's a good low-risk XP and money farming spot to get some extra abilities or items if you're having trouble.

If you take this route before you fight the boss in Sunken Valley Passage you'll have one less boss to fight on the way. You'll have to come back and fight the boss as well as the Shichimen Warrior for 100% completion of bosses and prosthetic upgrades.
https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Ashina+Depths
https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Mibu+Village

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssouwFZEbw8

Once you've unlocked Mibu, collect the prosthetics I listed above. You won't be able to get the axe yet because the materials are end-game.

Then collect the items required for all of the endings. Some items have events you have to participate in at certain points in the story line. If you miss it in the first run, you can target those items in your NG+ which you have to do anyway.
https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Endings

IIRC, you can do all or most of that without ever climbing the Ashina Castle tower and advancing the story and fight several bosses / mini bosses in the process.

Go clear Hirata Estate.

Go climb the Ashina Castle tower to advance the story.

Kill any remaining bosses / mini bosses, but don't climb the Ashina Tower a second time unless you're ready to choose an ending. You'll know it's time because there will be a new boss there. Save right before initiating the conversation if you want to save-scum or jump right in. Up to you.

If you've collected items for multiple endings then I recommend saving Shura for your NG+ run. That will put you into NG+2 more quickly which will help you farm XP for all the remaining skills if you didn't want to grind them all in your first run. It also saves you from fighting some of the harder bosses in NG+. ;)

After that it's just a matter of clearing bosses and collecting the items I mentioned above.

There are cheese guides all over the place for a lot of the bosses. This guy has some decent videos that help you win without feeling too cheap. :)

Hope that helps. :) I know it's not a step-by-step guide, but it should give you what you need.

Well. I feel kinda silly now. I've only gotten up to step seven of my route (up to Senpou Temple). I guess I'll just put the shorthand list here:
1. Ashina Outskirts up to Gyoubu Masataka Oniwa; Pick up the Shuriken and Firecrackers
2. Hirata Estate just after you kill GMO; Pick up the Axe and Flame Vent
3. Finish up Ashina Outskirts
4. Sweep the lower parts of Ashina Castle, and the Ashina Reservoir, pick up the Loaded Spear
5. Sweep through the Abandoned Dungeon
6. Do as much of Senpou Temple in a single go as possible
7. Head down to Ashina Depths and clear it out all the way to the end of Mibu Village for the Mibu Breathing Technique and Shelter Stone
8. Grab all of the now-accessible underwater goodies around the world
9. Upper floors and backside of Ashina Castle; Detour to pick up Sabimaru and Loaded Umbrella
10. Genichiro
11. Finish up Senpou Temple
12. Do Sunken Valley but do NOT pick up the Lotus of the Palace yet
12. Do the complicated sequence of events leading up to the Father's Bell Charm
13. Do the complicated sequence of events leading up to the Frozen Tears
14. You can pick up the Lotus of the Palace now
15. Clear out Ashina Castle again
16. Stab your parental figure in the back
17. Fountainhead Palace up to the Divine Dragon
18. Last stop for listening to Sake Lore and doing other stuff before the big invasion
19. Divine Dragon
20. Clear out Ashina Castle again
21. Clear out Ashina Outskirts and kill Demon of Hatred
23. Beat the game
24. Do the entire game again up to Owl
25. Become best friends with dad
26. Stab him the back anyway
27. Gauntlets of Strength

thanks for the help although it was still confusing. i found this https://sekiroshadowsdietwice.wiki.fextralife.com/Game+Progress+Route which makes a bit more sense to me, plus theres even a flow chart that shows progression

Whaaaaaa?! I wish I had realized that existed on my first playthrough. 😅

I researched every area independently. Oh well. I had fun doing it.
