To be fair, the first phase should be easy by this point, since you fought Genichiro two times already, and the last phase can also become easy since the lightning can be reversed for free damage and stun.
You just need to learn how to deal with the two middle phases. If you want some tips: Stick to his face, keep the pressure on, deflect, and don't forget: hesitation is defeat.
You can also bait him into his running attacks then dash in for some vitality damage. Whirlwind slash is great for this since it damages him through his block, just make sure you are ready to block or deflect after because some of his counterattacks are quick. Takes longer but much safer.
Still, this one thing made the fight a lot easier for me. Found out about it in NG+2.
There are other tips in the wiki.
Good luck dudes!
Its a great feeling too finaly beat him more or less safe 🤗
Make sure you learn to parry. And use all mikiri counter he offers you. Also jump on his head in the last two phases when he is doing his roundhouse slash with the spear.
You can see everything in my vid 😁

Thinking back to From Software's previous bosses, they were usually disappointingly easy. I think Miyazaki takes that as a challenge, since the DLC final boss is usually very hard to compensate.
And since Sekiro is unlikely to get DLC... we have this guy.
Unfortunately it only adds deathblows to the first phase of each enemy. It still makes the fight longer. And you can customize how many deathblows it adds. With default settings you face 3 phases of Genichiro followed by 5 phases of Isshin (3 phases with only sword > 1 Spear > 1 Lighting). I just tried it, its fun. :P
