Final Boss is too EASY.
SPOILER Text

i'm talking about Isshin, the Sword Saint

This boss really needs an update.

i mean, poor guy is just too easy with 4 damn phases, sword, spear, gun and lightning. i say give him a bazooka too, and a 5th phase also, where a godzilla's foot appears to stomp you.

The gun, tho. That surprised me when I first fought him

I guess you are being sarcastic?
To be fair, the first phase should be easy by this point, since you fought Genichiro two times already, and the last phase can also become easy since the lightning can be reversed for free damage and stun.
You just need to learn how to deal with the two middle phases. If you want some tips: Stick to his face, keep the pressure on, deflect, and don't forget: hesitation is defeat.

You can also bait him into his running attacks then dash in for some vitality damage. Whirlwind slash is great for this since it damages him through his block, just make sure you are ready to block or deflect after because some of his counterattacks are quick. Takes longer but much safer.

I'm gonna tell you a lil' secret tech I found for phase 2-3 (or 3-4, depending on how you count it). Chasing Slice. You can use shurikens to stuff him when he's running around with his spear, you can interrupt his gun attacks with it, and sweep in with the follow-up. Be careful though sometimes he's prepared to hit you after you get in.

Still, this one thing made the fight a lot easier for me. Found out about it in NG+2.

There are other tips in the wiki.

Good luck dudes!

I'm gonna be that guy and say he should legit be a little bit harder. Not mechanically, he's an amazing boss fight in that regard, was really fun figuring out his phases. But once I did (After dying a lot, ofc), he died too quickly. If you know the fight, his posture breaks too easily in my opinion. Would've been fun to have to execute what you know for longer, making mistakes more likely. I personally had a harder time with DoH, or Genichiro 2/Lady Butterfly (For the point in the game where you encounter them). One already knows how to play the game by the time you reach the Sword Saint.

What do you expect its the final boss and FS best boss imho.

Its a great feeling too finaly beat him more or less safe 🤗

Make sure you learn to parry. And use all mikiri counter he offers you. Also jump on his head in the last two phases when he is doing his roundhouse slash with the spear.

You can see everything in my vid 😁

Thinking back to From Software's previous bosses, they were usually disappointingly easy. I think Miyazaki takes that as a challenge, since the DLC final boss is usually very hard to compensate.

And since Sekiro is unlikely to get DLC... we have this guy.

Have a look at the "Enemies Die Twice" mod. https://www.nexusmods.com/sekiro/mods/116
Unfortunately it only adds deathblows to the first phase of each enemy. It still makes the fight longer. And you can customize how many deathblows it adds. With default settings you face 3 phases of Genichiro followed by 5 phases of Isshin (3 phases with only sword > 1 Spear > 1 Lighting). I just tried it, its fun. :P

Still finishing my NG+ run with Demon Bell and no Kuro's Charm. It's amazingly fun, feels like the chip dmg on block is how the game was meant to be played. Will take a look at mods once I'm done with this Playthrough, but that one definitely sounds like fun :D
