How Open World is the Game?
im at the blazing bull mini-boss and so far ive found it to not be a very interesting world in terms of exploration. it feels pretty empty and linear atm.

will that change the further you get into the game?

hoping so, bc right now the bosses/mini-bosses are way too close together and there isnt much to explore which sucks a lot.

Literally right after the Blazing Bull, the game opens into three or four routes you can progress down. I would never consider it "open world", but it does have a few options (for example, have you explored the world from the bell?)

It's pretty linear. Some paths exist and you can tackle some things in a different order but it's no DS.

This game does not offer Open World in the sense like Fallout 4, or Kingdom Come Deliverance. If you are looking for open world RPG, this game is not it. It only has a small number of locations. The developers divided each locations into sections marked by check points in the form of sculptures. I sense that you haven't watched any YouTube videos. There are different endings depending on your choice. If you want to find out for yourself, remember to do all the eavesdrops and exhaust all conversations. They all have clues.
I got this game after I saw the trailer and the demo videos. I was into the fighting rather than exploring the beautiful settings.
I have read from a post on Reddit site that there is guide book on sale on Amazon. But I think FightinCowboy's walkthrough series on YouTube gave the detail of how to achieve all endings.
I have spent almost 500 hours on this game, play through 3 times to get all the achievements. Now, I am almost completing a normal game but without the Kuro's Charm where I will lose heath if I block or mistime a deflect. I have to learn to deflect perfectly, i.e. I have to "gitgud". I suppose I enjoy the challenge. The fighting mechanics, in my opinion, is great. I haven't played any of the DarkSoul and Bloodborn series as they were done by the same developer. Some complained that this game is too hard, or it is not as good as Darksoul. But I just find the fighting mechanics very challenging and enjoyed every moment of it, despite dying more than twice. Hope this help and have fun.

You mentioned fighting the bull. That reminds me something about this game. The developer is playing heavily on human nature - scared. No one want to die, even in a game. Once one found oneself is losing health, ALARM!!! And then stay back or run away. I don't know if you notice it or not, you can deflect the charging bull. You will lose a little bit of health but the bull will be stun for period that will allow for 3 hits. The bull tend to dip its head a few times before its charge. Just before it hits you with its horns, it always dip its head into the ground, that's the signal to prepare for a deflect. After it is stun, hit 3 times then run away. You can heal now if you need to. Face it and repeat. This is a good tactics to use for your NG+.

ill try it on my ng+, i tried a bunch of differnt things including attempting to stun lock it, the only thing that worked was running at it and leaping over its head i beat him with almost no damage which was important bc my health bar was beginner sized
