the use of oil?
New player here, I got some oil from bandits drop. I try to throw them at enemy near a campfire and torch holding bandit. It does not light them on fire as I expect them to. what is the use of oil and also, is the environment serve a purpose other than stealth?

Oil makes enemies more flammable, so they burn easier and take more damage from fire. You just need something to set them aflame. They will not do that themselves with their own torch.

Makes burn work better, that's all. More of a flavor thing, barely used it.

First of all, to use the oil or rather to throw the oil effectively at the enemy, you have to lock on to them first, then throw the oil. I learnt it the hard way as I didn't lock on to the enemy that I intended to hit the oil with. Then you activate the flame barrel which you have equipped as your prosthetic. You find the flame barrel next to the camp fire of one of the group of bandits in Hirata Estate. You can only go to Hirata Estate after you accepted a bell from talking to a senile old lady in a run down house in an area after facing the first miniboss.
