[SPOILER] Serpent problem

I just killed the Snake with the plunging attack after swinging across the chasm with the kite. I got to the other side, but I wasn't careful while exploring and fell down where the broken hanging bridge is. Now the Serpent is gone and I don't know how to get back to the other side of that bridge. Need some help!

There is something on the other side and I believe I can continue on that path because of a story-related item that is required. I found a branch I could grapple to below where I fell down, but I can't climb up the broken bridge that is hanging down.

I can get to the part of the bridge that is right after the Gun Fort shrine, but I want to get to the other side of the broken bridge. The side you get to after killing the Serpent.

If you missed it the first time then you missed it for that playthrough, the game throws you over there to give you access to those items.

IIRC nothing particularly noteworthy after the snake, aside from the item he drops which you acquire automatically after killing him.

I didn't jump down, I went near the collapsed bridge but couldn't walk on the planks that still were there, so I fell down.

The most noteworthy thing is a dragon rot cure item, that's about it.

If the game hasn't saved yet when this happens, just kill the process and start again. You should be standing on the same rock you landed after you killed the serpent god. That's what I did.

That bridge has been an issue for a lot of people it seems. The collision box there is really wonky.
