Bring Oil and have Flame Vent equipped.
Oil the bastard and use Flame Vent on him to instantly cause him to stagger and roll in pain while burned. Use this time to swing at him as many times as you can. If you have Living Force unlocked you can imbue your blade in fire and cause him to burn through repeated hit if you dont have Oil handy to instantly burn him. Rinse and repeat to get through stage 1
During stage 2 make sure you have Pacifying Agent and Ungo's Sugar to help tank both his Terro and physical hits. If you still have a few uses of Flame Vent left then use them here as well but be careful since he will no longer stagger in pain when burned.
I think living force is the last skill in prosthetic skill path
Instead of candy, you can use the item you get from killing the Hidden Forest Headless enemy, which acts like an infinite use stealth candy, except it only lasts about half as long (enough for one kill, then you need to recast after resting)
If you use the demon bell burden while doing this, you can get a good amount of mid-tier materials too - large quantities of fat wax lumps, at least.
As for Sen, well investing skill points into the Monk Senpou skill tree to unlock the latent skills that give a bonus to Sen, and also using Wealth Mibu balloons is a good idea, and then farming the Mibu Village with all its easy to kill inhabitants is a good way of gaining some sen and skillpoints in equal measure. I haven't found any blockbuster methods of farming sen that isn't super tedious yet, though.
Most of my sen has come from indirectly farming for skill points and Divine Confetti - in the Ashina Antechamber in the castle area, with all the blue samurai, you can kill them with the Demon Bell active to get Divine Confetti fairly commonly, the side effect to this is they drop an okay amount of Sen too, so it can add up if you grind a lot, I guess.
I haven't even killed that guy on the roof of the castle yet - there's probably / definitely better methods to farm skill points and sen later on in the game, for sure.
there's also one cannon dude at gun fortress shrine you can sneak kill, run back to shrine and immediately rest.
if you have the 2nd sword, you can sneak kill the undeads at the main hall of senpou temple. sneak beside them, wait for them to activate, double deathblow = profit. rest and repeat.
