Not having fun. (Spoilers) (Textwall) (Rant)
I wrote this after my 7th consecutive attempt at beating Lady Butterfly.

Yes i am mad bro.

Yes i am very salty.

Stuck between Lady Butterfly & the Fire Bull. I feel like i'm playing a constant game of "find out how to access the DS1 DLC without a guide" game.

and after several deaths, checks of the surrounding zones, item desc & so on, i just have to admit, i'm not having fun.

Every time i die to a boss, i don't think i could've done better anymore.

I think

"have i gone the wrong way"

"Does this boss have a hidden weakness that hasn't been hinted yet"

"Will any NPCs get dragonrot?"

"Am i too weak"

"did i miss a hidden mcguffin?"

And finally.

"Am i enjoying this?"

And i want to, but i'm not.

The combat is almost great, but the sweep/stab thing just doesn't make sense as it is.

Not because "hurr durr i don't get mix-ups" but because both the sweep & the stab have the same red icon & have a very small reaction window. Why? i'm fighting a boss, it has more health than me, and these 50/50 attacks come out too fast for me to respond with anything other than muscle-memory, which i can only rely on to be unreliable.

This icon mechanic wouldn't even be a big problem if it didn't result in 70-100% of my hp bar being depleted as punishment, or gave me enough to time to figure out how to appropriately respond, and do so. It just feels like a cheap trick.

But knowing From, this is all intentional. I have to die over and over again, in order to learn the subtle movements for each variation of the red-icon, for each boss. And then readjust my muscle memory for each and every Red Icon, for each and every boss. Dying countless times out of necessity.

Sometimes i'll have to repeatedly spend 5 minutes clearing the same adds, again, and again. Because my muscle memory failed me, again and again.

And then when i finally beat whichever boss, i get to sit down and think

"now i have to unlearn all of that, or i'll die against the next boss"

And

"That took too much time, and stress to be worth it."

Better yet, this game is designed to make you play as aggressively as possible, so i can't change my approach in the heat of the moment, (adapt then and there) or the boss's posture bar will just recover. So i really do have to just, fight, die, and only then can i change strats.

And the worst part is, every boss can be easily defeated, by just going on here, explaining my situation, and saying "what do i not know" which is just disgraceful.

We enjoy beating greater foes, because it invigorates us with a strong sense of pride. But in order to beat this game, i have to swallow that pride. So what's the point?

Oh and before i forget, i need to farm for illusion dispelling seed-pods & paper dolls, after using them all up, trying to beat these two bosses. which is my favourite part of From games, and that should definately be more of in all of them, thanksssssssss.

Only seven times?

You guys give up really easily. it's about the rythm, learn the patterns, understand the good openings to unleash your attacks, some are good, some are more risky.

With every boss in this game is always the same, you need to attack and parry to break the poise of the enemy asap.

7th attempt? What? She took me 4 hours of non-stop attempts, without exaggeration. You do get salty too fast.

For bull you can simplify the fight a lot by buying robert's firecrackers for 500 sen.

You need to be patient with lady butterfly. Btw, she is 100% optional so you could progress to later parts of the game and completely annihilate her if you hate her enough. I struggled quite a bit personally - I had 5 gourd uses, 1 attack upgrade, and 2 vit upgrades. For the first phase you can generally punish her when she tries to do overhead stuff like the grab and leaping kick. Phase 2 the illusion thing is honestly kind of a joke - you can literally just run around the edge of the arena in circles and the summoned enemies or resulting projectiles can't really do anything to you.

I completely disagree. You can't just go on the forums and find out the trick. You still have to do it. You still have to get good.

the game also does not force you to play agressive. the lower the enemy health is the slower their posture refills, or just take em down by health damage is an option as well.
as for the lady without the items: just run in circles untill the mobs disappear and all the butterflies landed, nothing should hit you.
and the red symbols are the same to indicate "unblockable incoming" but the telegraphing still is vastly different.
not saying you can't get mad or salty though. had some issues with bosses so far as well. best tip from me would be to step away a bit, do something else and take some deep breaths and focus on a new attempt

i didn't even use that illusion seed to beat her .strats is just focus on parry and evade ,attack her once or twice only ,and use shuriken when she is on air .

here 4 hours, no snap seed and that's my first major boss.

You don't really need snap seed. It's convenient for speeding up the fight but you can pretty much negate the illusions but running on the outside of the arena until they despawn (illusion mobs not killed will spawn projectiles though, so only re-engaged when those are gone)

Lady Butterfly is an optional boss btw, also you can pretty much cheese her with one of the skills. Don't remember which one but beat her on my first try with being able to interrupt her nonstop. Think it's the first nightjar attack and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ meme'd on her.

Sorry, you just happened to play a game that requires real actual skill... Here, let me show you out... the room for Candy Crush is over this way.

Eh. Just get a trainer and it's a lot more fun.

A game at all, that is. Most games nowadays are little more than interactive movies that play themselves. Follow the quest marker [GO HERE 100m] and mash X to kill enemies effortlessly.
