Does dragon rot kill NPCs?

This is something that has been bothering me a lot because I've reached a point where I died a lot more times then I'd like to, some of the mini bosses are quite brutal. And I have two stacks of dragon rot. Will the NPC eventually die from it or just stop the quest line from progressing?

With no actual knowledge, I'm going to guess no. Just because the first person to get infected is the sculptor, and if he died, that'd be quite a problem.

It didn't happen to me but according to internet, yes. It's unclear what is the trigger though

No it doesn't kill any NPC, the only time they die is due to story or if you killed them yourself.

the sculptor actually tell's you he "isn't normal" and the dragonrot won't kill him. I am not sure about the others though.

anyway, I don't think we should worry about it since you learn how to cure them later on
