No. when you see the symbol, it quite literally means ''do not parry this''. Instead, you have to watch what the enemy is doing. All the symbols are the same everytime they appear so it's intentional trial and error.
normal attacks: no kanji, parryable, dodgable
sweep: red kanji, you can jump and then double jump on enemy's head to deal posture
thrust: red kanji, can dodge, makiri counter or parry
grab: red kanji, can dodge

That one you have to parry. They're very similar symbols to the untrained eye and the same color. Misreading is likely common.
focus on the bottom right part of the symbol. That part is easy to see the difference even mid fight.
