A lot of jumping was done.
The Souls' games had tons of crazy hitboxes though. The Chained Ogre's grab attack in this game is pretty much what every grab is like in those games.
Dark Souls 1 and 3 did not have this snap mechanic. When an enemy did an attack it would attack in the direction they started it in. Now some attacks will change direction but it's a natural flow unlike what it is in this game and like in Dark Souls 2 where enemies just have constant magnetic lock on on you.
It's funny because when I search for Dark Souls and 'grab moves' I instantly get pages full of results like this
"After putting a little over 150 hours into this game, I have to ask you others here, what the hell is up with grab attacks? (Mimics, Evangelists, etc)
It seems like I don't even have to be in the same post code as them, but they will suddenly have me grabbed, gouged, eaten, and grilled, no matter what. Don't get me wrong, I still dodge them most of the time, but their hitboxes just seem to be really really weird, and when I get grabbed, it feels more like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ than a legit mistake."
followed by scores of replies of people complaining about basically this thing. Grab moves having weird hitboxes is pretty much a videogame thing in general, but don't pretend that this is the first time a FROM game has had attacks with questionable hitboxes, ridiculous tracking and last-second massive angle changes. If anything Sekiro is absolutely their best game yet in that regard.
use fire and git gud.

Edit
Here's one with another actual ogre lol. The people who actually complain about Sekiro's hitboxes being bad must have suffered brain damage since playing any of FROM's previous games

Haven't had any issues with Mimics in Dark Souls 1 and 3. The Evangelists where a bit annoying but not anything like in Sekiro.
See both of those examples are from Dark Souls 2 which had Magnetic attack like Sekiro. That Magnetic attack causes a lot of problems for hit boxes.

Dark Souls have much better one. Dark Souls 3 have good ones as well.

The weapons will only deal damage when they connect with the body.

How about that one. He does an weapon art and jump over the sword and it dodges the hit.
Oh yes those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Mimics with their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ grab attacks...
