The chained ogre lunge grab attack should be patched
So I've been dying to this boss for like 1 hour straight now, and half of the times, the death is just cheap and not what I'd have expected from the guys at From Soft. The problem is, when the ogre does his lunge attach,, even when I sidestep out of it, sometimes I just get "teleported" or "sucked" back into the ogre's grasp, as in the game just puts my char back to a point where the ogre can get me. This bug can be seen in a lot of unpolished games or gamed from beginner devs, but this is NOT what I expected from a From game., not at all. I'm sure a lot of others have expeeienced the same bug as well. As I said, as the grab attack does insane damage, this can be (and usually is) an instant death, which is just cheap and clearly a bug. I really hope that the devs can fix it in an upcoming patch or something.

thats not a boss, its a mini boss and other than that he's not broken you jsut suck

Jump is the best option. It's what I did against this boss, hit twice, jump away, hit twice again jump away and so on.

A lot of jumping was done.

It is bs, but why would you not expect it in a FromSoftware game? All the souls games have moves that snap you or an enemy into the right position to play the animation correctly

It's not really a bug, but I do agree that the grab radius is a bit large yeah. Toughest fight so far for me because of it. It's only annoying because most of the hitboxes in this game seem really, really accurate.

The Souls' games had tons of crazy hitboxes though. The Chained Ogre's grab attack in this game is pretty much what every grab is like in those games.

sprint around him

I'll give you a little secret. Go up where you find that "one guy with the spear" kill him and go behind the "curtain thing" and you can hit him while he can't hit you. Its so free.
PomaReign Mar 23, 2019 @ 2:51am
I just sprint around him and killed him.

It's one thing snapping you into position for the animations (like DS's garrote and backstab). It's a different if the game snaps you for the actual hit. If it's really just snapping, because it actually hit you, the telegraphed area or the "hit box" are wrong here.

Dark Souls 1 and 3 did not have this snap mechanic. When an enemy did an attack it would attack in the direction they started it in. Now some attacks will change direction but it's a natural flow unlike what it is in this game and like in Dark Souls 2 where enemies just have constant magnetic lock on on you.

It's funny because when I search for Dark Souls and 'grab moves' I instantly get pages full of results like this

"After putting a little over 150 hours into this game, I have to ask you others here, what the hell is up with grab attacks? (Mimics, Evangelists, etc)

It seems like I don't even have to be in the same post code as them, but they will suddenly have me grabbed, gouged, eaten, and grilled, no matter what. Don't get me wrong, I still dodge them most of the time, but their hitboxes just seem to be really really weird, and when I get grabbed, it feels more like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ than a legit mistake."

followed by scores of replies of people complaining about basically this thing. Grab moves having weird hitboxes is pretty much a videogame thing in general, but don't pretend that this is the first time a FROM game has had attacks with questionable hitboxes, ridiculous tracking and last-second massive angle changes. If anything Sekiro is absolutely their best game yet in that regard.

Not even sure if you can post links, but here's a great example. Man, Dark Souls sure didn't have any weird hitboxes or snap teleport grabs lol

Edit

Here's one with another actual ogre lol. The people who actually complain about Sekiro's hitboxes being bad must have suffered brain damage since playing any of FROM's previous games

Haven't had any issues with Mimics in Dark Souls 1 and 3. The Evangelists where a bit annoying but not anything like in Sekiro.

See both of those examples are from Dark Souls 2 which had Magnetic attack like Sekiro. That Magnetic attack causes a lot of problems for hit boxes.

Dark Souls have much better one. Dark Souls 3 have good ones as well.

The weapons will only deal damage when they connect with the body.

How about that one. He does an weapon art and jump over the sword and it dodges the hit.
