How to equip Mikiri Counterattack?

I have learned Mikiri Counter and Whirlwind Slash, but I can only equip Whirlwind Slash. How can I equip Mikiri Counter?

mikiri counter is a passive ability, you'll always have it simply press the corresponding key to use it against thrust attacks

The mikiri counter is automatically just part of your movelist now, no equipping needed. just dodge into a thrust attack right before it lands and you'll get a ton of free damage. The undying guy at the dilapidated shrine gives training on the timing.

To add to this, you don't have to forward dodge to get it to work, neutral(No direction) dodges trigger it as well.

When I dueled the one zombie in town, it said it activated. Don't know what that was about.
