Try turning off GeForce Experience in-game overlay if you are having black/white screen issues.

I've tried turning off the notifications, icons, FPS counter, etc, but eventually it kept freezing, so I turned off the overlay altogether and it seems to have fixed it (so far, fingers crossed).

1. Open Nvidia GeForce Experience.
   
2. Click Settings (gear icon).
   
3. Under "General" Turn off the "IN-GAME OVERLAY" switch.
