I agree. It's simply not right that people who buy the Game should have to play it later than people who have the pirated version. Of course we can wait, but it's not ethically fair to the buyer. It costs nothing to steam to anticipate the release in the EU too, at this point.
Copy protection only hurts the paying consumer. That is why so many smaller publishers forgo it. The only people in favor of DRM are the DRM companies and the publishers that fell for the sales pitch.
The staggered regional release also only hurts the customers and the company since people could opt for a pirated version and be rewarded with early play while the paying customers have to wait it out.
