thanks. I never got a game on steam that is big enough to preload so wasn't sure how it worked

I'm guessing same as what happened at DS III Launch.

Which means probably waiting an hour after release until you can really play.

Same old as expected. But not all that bothersome.

steam preload is encrypted files and you can't datamine from that. if you preload, you have to unpack/decrypt on release date which could take 30min to hour depends on game size and your PC spec. if you have a decent internet, usually downloading on release date is quicker and easier since preloading sometimes get stuck or bug out while decrypting forcing you to download the entire game again.

Ya I have seen it take less time to just download the game immediately after it unlocks, than to preload it ahead of unlock and then have to unpack it.

Having said that there's a bunch of factors, your DL speed, obviously what type of harddrive you downloaded it to. If you have it on an NVMe the unpack isn't too bad usually. But at the same time if you have Fiber it could still be around the same amount of time.

thanks for the heads up, but my download speed is REALLY bad.

same here, I been pre-loading the division 2 the entire day and I won't be done till tomorrow afternoon (in total its going to take about 28 hours? already downloaded 45% of the game these past 14 hours and I still need another 12-16 hrs)

so i really benefit from games that give you 1-2days prior to preload

thats harsh. Where do you live with such slow internet?

The game will be around 25GB, going by sys reqs. If you have an SSD, decrypt time should be under 20 minutes.
