That's true I forgot about that. Maybe they just aren't up for spending the money it takes to do that or whatever. Also I guess the part about the publisher advertising is another reason they might have someone else do it for the western world.
But doesnt this already prove that From Software has the power here ?
By doing something Activison didnt expected and still let them release it because they like it ?
Im just annoyed by people who say "Activision = Maybe not good game" because this aint an Activision game
Well FromSoftware bought the rights from Activision in 2004 so that's really not it. They just worked together before and like you said Activision had the Tenchu rights once, so they thought why not work together again. But who cares, FromSoftware is big enough and has money enough to not fall into the publisher trap that the game developers won't have any freedom.
Since I bought DMC 5 without regional price I won't be able to buy another AAA game without regional pricing as it's a big loss for me.
I planned to buy this but not anytime soon. Hope this game do well. Buying outside steam is bigger loss here so I have no other option.
Because they are a JP company and the western nations are incredibly awful to publish in for them now, what with social justice and weird outrages over the smallest thing.
So they decided to go with activision so they could deal with it.
"“The games I have directed I have worked with Bandai Namco, Sony and Activision there is a difference in the way project management is handled and how hands on they are with production,” Miyazaki continues. “They all have their own specialties and interests regarding these games. Activision have played a big role in areas we don’t particularly consider our forté such as onboarding, tutorials and general user comfort. We’re getting advice, but when it comes to creative decisions, all three of these companies gave us the right to shape these how we see fit.”"
