Why can you tap block and block it sometimes, but other times it goes through? Does he have multiple stab attacks with the same wind up?

You cant block thrust attacks, but you can deflect them.

i think in the 3rd phase the stab has a longer wind up
in the 2nd phase he often does a swipe attack instead of a stab attack.
otherwise he is doing the same stab attack

Maybe it was a timing thing, I was tapping block for the thrust and was probably getting lucky.

Also, what was up with the third stage? It gave me Nameless King vibes but he died so fast lol, he killed me once because thunder ate my ass, but after that it was too easy. -_-

I would recommend using the mikiri counter against the thrusts, it's way more generous with the timing and it does more posture damage.

You dont have 100% deflect uptime with tapping block. Its better than just holding block, but you can miss on important deflects.

Its better to just time 1 block correctly than just tap it

you can mikiri counter the piercing one but you have to jump the slash

You can deflect, which means you need to time it perfectly. You can't hold block on it.

You can also mikiri counter it. Keep going you'll get him.

I used three different methods for this combo attack:

a) Dodge backwards then Mikiri counter OR
b) Dodge sideways or backwards, dodge backwards (downside you can´t attack him fast enough because of the distance
c) dodge backward then dodge to right side (left side won´t work)
