Any cheese strat for Demon of hatred?
This boss is so badly designed. 2 moves that turn his entire model into a hitbox, badly telegraphed attacks, 3 healthbars to tediously chop down for 10 minutes straight, and terrible camera angles when i get too close.

What do you mean "badly telegraphed attacks"?

The only attack I had an issue with is his flame spin in third phase because he starts it like a second or 2 after the red sign vanishes. Other than that his attacks are pretty well telegraphed and quite slow.

dont drag him down to your level just rise up to his

Git Gud! You just sprint around to the right the whole time. Jump his charge, then whistle his 3rd phase. 3 minutes tops, just killed him again in ng+5. I love this boss!

All his attacks are very telegraphed, but his headbutt is very fast and his charge/sweep is fast and must be jumped. He has a 4 move combo that starts with his flaming hand sweeping to your left, which you should dodge forward and right, then he sweeps his hand back so dodge left or try to get behind to the right, then a stomp followed by a VERY delayed right arm sweep so don't attack after the stomp. All his stomps can be blocked/deflected. After his charge/sweep he will either slam his hand, which you should have no problem dodging to the left while running towards him, or he will throw fire, which might hit depending on terrain or your distance. It is his only somewhat RNG attack imo. Upon his jump you should jump when he almost hit the ground and use the grapple on him. His 2 stomps may catch you off guard so watch out everytime he lifts his feet. Phase 2 gives him a wide firesmash after a charge that must be jumped to the side with a very precise timing, and a fireball attack in which you must run in circles. Phase 3 gives him a new charge move and a firecircle that conceals his charge. His charge here is two sweeps that both must be jumped over. In between his attacks try to get 3 hits in, sometimes you can get up to 6 if I am not mistaken, but watch for his stomps. Running to the right works most of the time when closing the distance as he do have a palmstrike, but it will likely miss if you run to the right.

To cheese him you can use the last finger upgrade, malcontent, to stun him 3 times. In my opinion suzakus phoenix umbrella is better, as every fire attack can be totally negated by taking cover under it. That includes his jump bodysmash, firethrow and fireballs, leaving only attacks that do either pure physical or mixed damage.

Keep it up, dude. You can do it.

he has several attacks where you have a time span to safely attack afterwards

demon of hatred is one of the easiest bosses if you have the malcontent upgrade for the whistle (the malcontent whistle can stun the boss up to three times and gives you enough time to skip one of his phases) and if you use the phoneix umbrella. also you can beat the sweep kanji attack if you just jump when you see the kanji nothing special just jump up once you have plenty of time to do it

also if you fight the boss in the right way then it should only take 5 minutes to beat a boss, every boss can be beaten in about 5 minutes

The issue isn't that the attacks aren't telegraphed (They very much are), it's that there's just some attacks you can't do anything against. If he throws the fireball volley, you're just gonna take unblockable damage and almost be lit on fire.

Malcontent helps, but outside of that there's no real cheese. Just try to get as close as you can to his right leg/behind and chop chop chop. Fire resistant umbrella does wonders against some of his stronger attacks like the explosion stomp and the fire wave.

The biggest problem with the fight is the HP bar and the horrible camera. I mean I agree to a certain extent that the boss is absolute garbage in comparison to pretty much any other main boss(well the guardian ape first phase is right there with demon of hatred though).

If we ignore how much these fights do not fit into the combat system of this game which is very well designed and a lot of fun the fight is rather easy. IF you can overcome the camera that is. Can't tell you how many good tries went down the toilet because the camera spazed out and I lost sight of him and the attack he was preparing.

Just use the umbrella (fire upgrade) to block incoming fire balls while you run towards him and don't waste emblems on anything else than that. You'll need it. Then stick to his belly as much as possible. You want to stay close and just deflect any close quarter attacks without flame status he throws at you. Just jump up or to the left when the danger symbol appears. Jump backwards when he jumps upwards and use the grapple hook a moment after he slams the ground. In between all of this you constantly hit him where it hurts.

Fight takes for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ever even with candy and is incredibly unfun (seriously, guys, if I wanted to play Dark Souls I wouldn't have bought this game). Spent two to three hours on him in my first playthrough before I got him and currently I'm sitting there at NG+. Not sure if I'm going to pull through this time. He's not difficult but it becomes incredibly frustrating having to fight an oversized fire ape AND the camera at the same time.

The thing about that attack, for example, is that he only uses it when you're at medium-long range, because it only hits medium range. It's just up to you to gauge your distance and act accordingly. If you're relatively close, make a mad dash for his feet and it will go over your head. If you're farther away, just back up a bit and it won't hit you, then run for him in the gap between that attack and whatever he does next. All of his attacks are more or less a response to your distance from him, and all of them are easily avoidable or exploitable. You just need to learn how to properly respond. The umbrella is not at all necessary for avoiding the fireball attack.

-When you see red, jump
-Otherwise, if it is a stomp, deflect. The hitbox is broke af, deflection is the only reliable way to do this
-Otherwise, if it is an arm attack, run into his crotch and go wild

When he jumps into the air, either run away or use the fire umbrella to block it and combo out for high damage. When he jumps away, run towards him for fireballs (usually), jump to either side for the fire wave and grapple onto him, or, in the case of homing missiles, run.

You can use the malcontent finger whistle upgrade to stun him, but don't abuse it too much, otherwise it stops working all together on him

I'm not good enough at reading a moveset so I'll blame game design
Big Moustache Apr 6, 2019 @ 10:20am
Treat him as a Souls demon. His front and sides are dangerous, his behind is not. Keep him locked and sprint-strafe him anticlockwise. I call this the Naruto approach. His attacks will mis you and you can go in and do ichimonji on his butt. (Use the whistle when his poise is low enough.) This works on many minibosses too, like the generals and spears. Switch ichimonji for springloaded axe for faster poisebreak.

The life bar isn't that bad at all. Use confetti + ako sugar in phase 1 + 2 to trash his vit + posture fast (get through first two phases in like sub 2 mins or so). Phase 3 confetti + the attack boost item that cuts def/posture and stunlock boss with ring and auto win that phase very fast in seconds.

I think one of the annoying issues with the boss is it is very poorly designed in the visual department and it causes some of the attacks to be hard to read because of bad texture/model design of the boss until you get used to it (initially appears to be one giant muddly pile of orange flames with some attacks that blend together to much to see what his arms do sometimes until you get used to it).
