Am I trying to fight lady butterfly too early?

Vitality 11
Attack 1
I have the shurkien, axe, and flame vent. Barely putting a dent in her life bar, the best I’ve ever done is having her halfway down before I die ( I don’t use resurrect unless I get them on their second life bar). I don’t want to use the snap seed, because I don’t know if I’m wasting it an and where I can get another one
I’ve currently gotten this far as underbridge valley on the other path
Disclaimer – I don’t care if you’ve beaten her earlier than I have, I just want to know if I get items or anything later in the other path than make the flight easier. Or if I have to do it now. Please be vague if possible, to avoid spoilers

The boss is pretty much optional as you can finish the game without ever beating her. Come back when you progressed a bit if you don't think you're strong enough yet.

I think you're supposed to beat her after you passed the giant snake and got the seed thingies.
She is pretty much doable on any stage of the game (but probably before some plot parts), but would be definitely easier with some extra gourd charges, health upgrade or two, and more damage. The thing that made me come and try her boss fight was lack of damage on certain unskippable mini-boss.

She was my first boss.
Update: I handed her a smack down today. Only took me like 100 deaths ... 😵

Good job brother, I bet it felt great! :)
In general, if you can reach the boss, it's as good a time as any to beat the boss. There's very little that coming back later will buy you (attack / vitality / gourd upgrades are nice, but no substitute for learning the fight). And in general, before you fight a major story boss, you should try to finish off available minibosses first, as some of them are missable if you progress the story too far.

To say this spoiler-free, the only real exceptions are minibosses that give a purple debuff; for these you either will want certain items OR a specific prosthetic upgrade paired with a particular skill, and until you get those you should leave those bosses alone.

Too early lol, lady butterfly was the first boss i fought because i though that was the way. So no, never is too early to fight anything here.
The earlier you fight her, the more perfect you have to be as well as you have to learn to avoid the "butterflies". But with some impressive practice, you could probably fight her first, if there were not several mini-bosses in the way. Still I would advise either being very confident in your deflection, counter attack skills, and recognizing which attack she is coming at you with. If you aren't very confident, wait until at least 2 attack power and get more practice in.

If she doesn't go down for you when you have 2, then either practice like crazy, or go get more. She never goes away, so you can just go gather some more beads and memories and then try again, or just keep fighting her.

As for her in comparison to other bosses, she requires totally different skills, but I would say that if you can handle gyoubu or the bull without cheese methods, then you can probably handle her straight up.
In my opinion, you should fight her as early as possible without cheesing. She's absolutely beatable and will help you get better at the game. I fought her without seeds, no attack power upgrades and I think 1 vitality upgrade, 2 gourd seeds. I felt it was demanding and tense but she took four tries and was totally doable.

You simply have to stay in her face and attack, lock her out and respond to her deflects with your own deflects. Stick with it as it will help you learn the rhythm of the game, she usually responds with the kick after her deflect that you can deflect yourself. You have to stay relentless to eff up her posture so don't be afraid to be on the offensive and you'll see she's not as bad as you thought. If you die, have a go at it again until you get better at deflecting her, you can try parry spamming in the beginning, won't hurt, and the adjust your timing as you get used to her.

Also try to shoot her down with a shuriken when she jumps up.

The second phase is very similar, stay on her, when she spams illusions just run around until they disappear or use the seed.

Trust me, you'll get her and you will understand the combat better.
You can get one more attack power from another early boss before fighting lady butterfly but it doesnt matter which one you start first, you might have more trouble with other boss.
Ashina posture latent skills are godsend against her, so fight her after Gyobu to earn that esoteric text from the Tengu of Ashina.
If you attack her right away in phase 2 it stops her summon

like say DarkTerren u can cancel the genjutsu if u are enogh offensive in P2
She can be cheesed with sidestep left, hit, sidestep, hit. Reset when you get near walls or she jumps away. First phase is a joke. It only becomes a bit more tedious in her second phase, but you should be more than ready if you use the snap seeds found in the snake valley(the first part where you meet the snake) and double that with the extra snap seed the blind dude near the boss room gives you.

The best way to use the seeds is to get in the middle or next to the cluster of spawned in enemies (not just spawning/crawling, they have to have their weapons ready) then use it. Sometimes she has more summoning in, but even in the first time beating her you should only need ~4 seeds anyway.

A good idea against her is to equip the kunai and wait for her to do her leap kunai toss. If you can land it, she falls to the ground and allows you to get at least 2 free hits.
