I mean, in a motivational sense that's true, but it certainly takes time and practice and confidence and patience. That doesn't mean every boss is easy or anything.
He can't even hit you with most attacks if you make an effort to stay close enough.
The only attacks of his that are effective at close range are the stomps (which are heavily telegraphed) and the headbutt (which he rarely if ever uses). Whenever he uses perilous attacks you jump. When he jumps, you use the umbrella to avoid all damage. As soon as phase three starts, you can perma-stun him with the whistle. It really is one of the easiest bosses in the game. There are very few attacks you have to learn and most of those attacks require the same response on your part (running towards him, when he tries to gain distance from you, constantly staying on top of him and jumping when you see the danger symbol).
And on top of that he moves so fast that it's extremely difficult to react to his attacks in time and staying close to him means all you see are his toenails while you get smashed with attacks from offscreen. You can all say "hurr he's super easy just the same as any Souls boss" but i've completed DS1 and played DS2 up to the DLC snow area and none of the bosses i fought in either of those games come anywhere remotely close this fight.
What are you even talking about.
All of his attacks can be answered.
There is literally Zero unfair about him.

That's true. I disagree that the fight is particularly long though. With the finger whistle you practically skip the third phase. I'd wager that the Great Shinobi (the Hirata Estate one) and Sword Saint fights are both longer on average. I'd guess about 10 to 12 minutes, while the battle with the Demon should take about 8 minutes. The boss fight for the Shura ending probably takes longer than that as well.
I tried finger whistle in 3 passes and it did not work once!
then I thought ♥♥♥♥, I'll fight him without upgrades
Have you upgraded the whistle to Malcontent? The lower ranks don't work on Demon of Hatred IIRC.
wich one is that ? i have only the second upgrade on it. i play this game in german so i didn´t know the english names
It's the third upgrade for the whistle.
This videos shows how to cheese the Demon with Malcontent, its position in the skill tree and how to get the necessary crafting materials.
It apparently works on a ton of boss enemies including the headless ape, corrupted monk and the great shinobi (Hirata).
He definitely isnt RNG.
I think people posting about how a you tuber beats him etc., is funny.. basically these people are admitting to just finding easy solutions to the game and not learning it themselves.
I feel for struggling players but think it is pretty dumb when someone comes in telling them the fight is easy because they watched a guide on youtube before ever fighting the boss... like.. you didnt play the game dude!
I second this. There's a difference between playing the game, and following commands.
Anyone who walked into this battle 'blind' got their ass handed to them. Any statement outside of that is questionable.
