Acquiring a skill after boss fight question

Just wonder if those are random, or how does it work?

Just seems a bit wasteful when you get a skill for defeating a boss but you already had that skill, or does that not happen?

They’re predetermined, and you can’t get skills you already unlocked with levels from bosses.

Yeah nearly all the skills that i got i already owned.

No, you didn’t.

Bosses don’t drop skills from the skill trees. They mostly drop alternate versions of skills on the skill trees that stack.
